Environmental Engineer Project Manager (Air Quality)

Cherokee Nation Management & Consulting is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer or Specialist to join our team supporting the AFIMSC Det 2 in planning, management, and execution of U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Space Force (USSF) environmental programs in the Pacific region. Candidate will work as an integral part of our team working with the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), installations, and communities to plan projects, ensure compliance, and provide technical support for high profile initiatives at installations and other locations throughout the Pacific.

Location: Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii

Environmental Engineer Responsibilities Include:



  • Provide full-time, on-site Air Quality technical services. Work with installation, USAF, DoD, and other entities to gather, review and submit technical data in support of the air quality programs. Monitor and update databases and records libraries and support data call analysis to include APIMS and sub-modules (WET, STAR), EASIER, EESOH-MIS, and eDASH including the Plans & Permits Tracker. This work shall ensure completeness, accuracy, currency, and consistency of all records, and compliance with applicable business rules and guidance. Review data provided by the installations, perform trend analyses to include whether data is consistent or inconsistent with expected values, describe why changes may be occurring, and provide recommendations for program adjustments or data approval to the PM and COR. Track the status of, write, review and or edit environmental plans and permits for the air program. Work with government personnel to anticipate (and, when feasible, prevent) the submission of late plans and permits. Ensure status of plans and permits are updated on a weekly basis.
  • Technical services will include planning and decision support, technical reviews, data submissions, meeting support, internal and external coordination activities, requirements development, plans and permits support, future year project and program development, as well as support for acquisition packages for non-A&AS contracts.
  • Ensure work products are scientifically valid/defensible and comply follow country-specific environmental regulations (including U.S.), Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD) standards, Final Governing Standards (FGS), other environmental law, and DoD and DAF policy. Reviews of externally produced documents/studies/tools shall include specific recommendations and changes to reach compliance with those applicable policy and regulations.
  • Work as part of a team. Support and assist colleagues and stakeholders as needed to accomplish deliverables and meet day-to-day assignments of the team.
  • Conducting comprehensive analysis of air for the presence of contaminants or pollutants.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Environmental Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Must be an environmental engineer, physicist, or chemist
  • 3+ years of air quality compliance experience
  • BA/BS (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in environmental engineering, atmospheric science, statistics, physics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, or a closely related scientific field
  • Experience with federal projects and Pacific region preferred
  • Ability to organize and gather project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports, and provide recommendations without assistance
  • Good organizational skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Current USA passport (or ability to obtain within five months)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD-issued CAC card (i.e., NACI/SF85)
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal



WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Requires local travel to project sites.
