POSITION SPECIFICS

The Eberly College of Science (ECoS) Office of Science Outreach is seeking an Education Program Coordinator - Intermediate Support to join our team. This position reports to the Director of Science Outreach.

The successful candidate should, in collaboration, expect to contribute to the following:

* Program Support and Coordination: Assist with the planning, advertising, and implementation of the office's diverse outreach programs. This includes Science-U summer camps, ENVISION: STEM Career Day Supporting Young Women event, Haunted-U, Exploration-U, after-school programs, and other on and off-campus STEM events. Responsibilities include coordinating with outreach partners, tracking and organizing staff/volunteers, securing facilities, ordering and purchasing supplies and materials, administering surveys, following youth safety and compliance protocols, managing on-site activities during the programs, and writing a final report or summary for each event.

* External Funding Coordination: Assist the director with seeking external funding, including writing grant proposals and interfacing with corporate sponsors and donors. Assist the director with complying with all grant requirements, including submitting external reimbursement requests, providing midterm progress reports, and submitting final reports. Help prepare broader impacts budget sections of Eberly faculty grants based on prior years' expenses.

* Program Assessment: Development and implementation of assessment mechanisms; production of relevant reports and data for stakeholders. Assess program efficacy through surveys and interviews with participants and volunteers/employees. Analyze programmatic feedback from the office's programs to drive future improvement.

* Office Operations: Help maintain and improve quality, efficiency, and accuracy of service for all programs and office operations. Maintain youth safety through organizing volunteer and employee clearances and trainings. Procure, inventory, organize, and distribute supplies and services for Science Outreach and its programs/events. In collaboration with the Administrative Assistant, successfully manage registration documentation and data using youth registration system. Manage and coordinate hiring of part-time employees and arrange supplemental pay for faculty and staff who participate in Science-U summer camps.

* Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

* Prior work in supporting or implementing science-oriented outreach or education programs for diverse audiences is preferred.

* Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, learning and communication abilities (both verbal and written).

* Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office.

* Ability to adjust to a changing schedule, particularly during intense summer programs in June, July, and August.

* Capability to work both independently and as an effective member of a team.

* Ability to multitask and respond professionally in stressful situations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
