Director of International Student Services & Global Programming

Curry College seeks an experienced and dynamic international and global studies professional to serve as our Director for International Student Services & Global Program Support. The position focus is to provide international students holistic support throughout their higher education experience and lead students / faculty in global study opportunities. The successful candidate will advise our F-1 students, work with third-party SEVIS reporting software, and serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). This position plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for international students while also managing and promoting global study away programs for Curry College students and faculty.

Essential Functions:

1. International & National Student Support Services:
  • Serve as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and as the primary point of contact for international students providing guidance on academic, social, and cultural adjustment;
  • Support international students with visa compliance, SEVIS reporting, and coordination with relevant departments to ensure adherence to immigration regulations;
  • Process I-20 visa certificates for principals and their dependents, program extensions, changes in status, employment requests and reporting, travel, and reinstatements for F students;
  • Advise students on work authorization processes (e.g., CPT, OPT) and employment opportunities within legal parameters;
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and social programs designed to enhance the experience of international and exchange students at Curry College;
  • Partner with campus offices, including Enrollment Management, Academic Success, Residence Life, Career Services, the Center of Innovation, and Student Affairs, to ensure international students receive holistic support;
  • Partner with external organizations including governmental entities and recruitment agencies supporting international students enrolling at the College;
  • Advise faculty, department personnel, and staff on international student eligibility, immigration issues, and opportunities;
  • Serve as a liaison for specific college populations, ensuring compliance with academic policies and immigration regulations;
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes from USCIS, SEVP, ICE, DOS, and other agencies affecting international students and scholars;
  • Develop and implement programming that fosters engagement, retention, and success for international students;
  • Advise international students and additional populations as prescribed by the Associate Provost or their designee.

2. Global Study Away Programming:
  • Oversee and promote study away opportunities, including faculty-led programs, international study abroad, and national domestic exchange programs;
  • Advise students on study away program selection, application processes, financial considerations, VISA and travel documentation, and academic integration;
  • Collaborate with faculty and institutional partners to expand study opportunities that align with Curry College's curriculum and strategic goals;
  • Manage relationships with third-party study abroad providers and exchange institutions to ensure quality programming and student success;
  • Develop pre-departure orientation programs and re-entry sessions to support student learning and cultural transition including guides, handbooks, and office documents;
  • Monitor student progress while abroad, addressing any academic, personal, or health-related concerns as needed.

Additional Functions:
  • Advise and/or provide academic support for specialized populations assigned by Associate Provost or their designee
  • Participate in and support student programming efforts
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in international education, student affairs, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international student services
  • Ability to be approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to serve as a PDSO and have previously served as a DSO or PDSO at an institution of higher education
  • Strong understanding of international student regulations (e.g., SEVIS, F-1 visas) and study abroad best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing student programs that promote engagement and success.
  • Ability to collaborate with various campus offices, faculty, and external partners to support student needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, student management systems, and digital tools for program coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with student exchange programs or faculty-led study away initiatives.
  • Knowledge of risk management and crisis response strategies for international travel.
  • Familiarity with best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion as they pertain to global education and student support.

Salary Range:

$85,000 to $90,000 annually
