The EMT Instructor Senior leads in-person EMT courses by managing classes, designing curriculum, and overseeing practical skills training. This position ensures compliance with national and state standards, coordinates support staff, and delivers high-quality education that prepares students for certification exams and real-world EMS service. The Instructor Senior also provides individualized support to students through tutoring, skills coaching, and progress monitoring. Essential Functions 30% - Plans and delivers in-person EMT instruction through lectures, practical skills labs, and scenario-based training, aligned with National Registry (NREMT) and Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) standards. Assesses student competency through computer-based exams, skills evaluations, and clinical scenarios. 30% - Provides 1:1 academic support, skills coaching, and disciplinary meetings when needed. Maintains and updates Canvas LMS course content, gradebooks, and documentation of student progress. 30% - Designs, updates, and deploys lesson plans and curriculum for all EMT program content. Ensures all materials align with national teaching standards and incorporates new techniques, procedures, and regulations as required. Participates in professional development to maintain certification and instructional currency. Tracks and analyzes student performance data to identify students in danger of failing. Reports concerns to the Instructional Services Supervisor and/or CARES team for intervention. Ensures documentation meets program completion, accreditation, and testing standards. 10% - Schedules and manages support staff including Lab Techs and Evaluators to maintain proper student-to-instructor ratios for skills days and scenarios. Coordinates equipment, room reservations, and other logistics needed to execute labs and simulations effectively. Communicates in a timely manner with program administrators, students, and stakeholders. Submits required documents such as CPR rosters, EPM clinical scenarios testing, and NREMT testing records. Ensures all course documentation meets compliance and department requirements. Attends departmental meetings, participates in informational sessions and career fairs, and represents the program to prospective students and community stakeholders; other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in area of assignment. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Desired Qualifications A. Current NREMT EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification B. NAEMSE Instructor Level 1 and/or Level 2 or NEMSIC certification C. Experience with Google Suite, Student Information Systems (SIS), Canvas LMS D. Program specific tools and platforms such as Fisdap Exams, Platinum EMStesting, JB Learning, AAOS Emergency Care textbook E. Teaching/testing skills in preparation for the National Registry Psychomotor Examination F. Teaching/testing scenarios in individual and/or group sessions up to 5 students at a time Special Working Conditions
