FloWorks is a leading specialty distributor of critical flow control products and a provider of tailored technical solutions for MRO-focused applications. The Product Design Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and design for all products we represent. You will coordinate with the outside sales team and our manufacturers to ensure that customers receive the best designed and manufactured products. This position involves all activities of system design from conceptualization and design through manufacturing and testing of products.

Some of the exciting things you will do in this role...

  • Generate and review production drawings for newly developed products.
  • Perform product support functions for both internal and external customers.
  • Plan and track product development efforts.
  • Provide additional support for design drawings as needed.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions while interfacing with the outside sales team.
  • Develop technical knowledge with valves and support accessories and the systems they go in.
  • Understands valve specifications and supporting design reviews.
  • Identifies customer products needs and coordinates execution of orders.
  • Assists in training or mentoring of associates.
  • Develop expertise specific to branch needs
  • Review of design for manufacturability and design cost issues.
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement of product and process.
  • Must be a team player, able to problem-solve and work constructively with customers and co-workers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

A must...

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • 2+ years of technical experience in customer support and/or troubleshooting of industrial equipment/technology
  • 2+ years in-plant operations experience.
  • 2+ years working knowledge of industrial equipment
  • A good understanding of business financials and operations acumen
  • Clear written and verbal communication style; to be a professional face of Floworks to our customer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of urgency with a customer-focused mindset to execute
  • Ability to produce professional reports and presentations in keeping with company policies & objectives
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office, CAD 2D and 3D, ERP

Environmental Job Requirements...

  • Typically, in a comfortable environment but with intermittent exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
