Principal Software Engineer in Test

The Principal Software Engineer in Test is Lead position as part of FlightSafety International's Software Quality Assurance Team and plays a key role in verifying the overall quality of mission critical applications and systems. As part of a highly collaborative team, this role will interact with many technical and business resources across the enterprise and will be responsible for building test automation for critical business systems.

• Perform as a QA Lead on complex projects, managing the work and communicating the project team's overall status. Identify risks and issues occurring that may impact deadlines.
• Develop an overall test plan and test strategy for projects, reviews test plans to ensure dependencies and critical path are defined.
• Holds defect review meetings with Development and the Business to ensure proper prioritization and resolution.
• Provide updates to the project team on testing activities and communicate key milestones.
• Develop daily and weekly status calls and or reports, metrics for test execution as needed.
• Collaborate with business representatives and software engineers in analyzing use cases and requirements.
• Analyze application logic and write complete and reusable test scripts.
• Perform black box and white box testing using exploratory testing techniques.
• Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans.
• Troubleshoot problems in application and system functionality and performance.
• Partner with the business to develop testing strategies for UAT and obtain approval on release readiness.
• Mentor and train new staff.
• Proactively drive and support automation strategies across multiple applications.
• Provide technical guidance regarding automation frameworks.
• Identify automation opportunities across a diverse technology stack including Web and Mobile apps.
• Experience building test automation using Frameworks desired.
• Conduct proof of concept investigations into new tools, methods and test strategies.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience.

• 8 plus years of professional experience in software testing..

• Solid experience working in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid environments.
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle models.
• Proven ability to translate requirements into test plans, cases and scripts.
• Strong knowledge of Database and SQL queries for data validation.
• Results Driven mindset.
• Knowledge of Microsoft related testing tools, TFS, Visual Studio, Test Manager.
• Experience using Cloud technologies, Azure DevOps.
• Participate in the scrum process, including stands ups and related activities.
• Successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross functional business teams.
• Excellent organizational skills, including ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitask and prioritize workload.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Experience with Mobile concepts and building test automation for Mobile applications a plus.
• Knowledge of the front end web stack, XML, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, DOM etc.
• Test automation frameworks and platforms skills, SpecFlow, Selenium, Mocha, Nightwatch.js.
• Web service and other API concepts, SOAP, OData, REST etc.
• SDLC and test management tools, TFS, Jenkins, Git etc.
• Experience with Mobile concepts and building test automation for Mobile applications a plus.
• Proven ability to drive improvement in testing practices.
• Experience building test automation using Frameworks desired.
• Conduct proof of concept investigations into new tools, methods and test strategies.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
• Highly developed attention to detail.
• A proven track record of task management.
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle models.
• Demonstrates strong leadership and can provide mentorship to QA team.
