Assists in providing leadership and direction for an assigned area within the athletic department. Responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of the department. Responsible for employees in the assigned area.

Major/Essential Functions

The Assistant Athletics Director of Creative Development will lead the development and execution of long-form and branding content for Texas Tech Athletics, ensuring a cohesive and compelling visual and storytelling strategy across all platforms. This position will oversee content creation teams, coordinate with internal and external partners, and play a key role in revenue-sharing initiatives involving student-athletes. The ideal candidate will be a leader with a deep understanding of creative production, brand strategy, and the evolving landscape of collegiate

Content & Brand Strategy:

  • Oversee the development and execution of long-form storytelling and branding content for Texas Tech Athletics.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all creative assets, aligning with the department's overall strategic vision.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Texas Tech Athletics and external creative partners, including Athletic and Red Raider Sports.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance engagement and visibility of Texas Tech Athletics through high-quality content.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Supervise video content creation teams
  • Provide leadership and direction to internal staff and external agencies to execute creative initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration between all athletic programs to ensure a unified creative approach.
Revenue Share & Compliance Coordination:
  • Oversee the strategic use of student-athletes in creative content related to revenue share agreements.
  • Work closely with Compliance to ensure all content aligns with NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and Texas Tech regulations.
  • Ensure all creative executions adhere to contractual obligations and revenue-sharing guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support content creation efforts through hands-on graphic design, photography, and videography when necessary.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and innovative storytelling techniques to enhance Texas Tech Athletics' brand presence.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years experience in an intercollegiate athletics department or other work experience that would demonstrate the necessary background and knowledge. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in content creation, brand strategy, or creative leadership, preferably in athletics or a sports setting.
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, digital content trends, and brand development.
  • Experience managing creative teams and external partnerships.
  • Familiarity with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations and revenue-sharing strategies.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design/video editing tools.
