- The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for set-ups and maintenance tasks on assigned production lines to ensure smooth operation.
- Understand the correct setup and connection between components and complete a setup/changeover within the expected time.
- Machines could include a bottle unscrambler, electronic tablet counter, slat filler, capper, cap induction sealer, labeler, neck/body bander, heat shrink tunnel, pack-off table, accumulation table, cartoner, QR code printers, Tray/Case Forming, Case Packer, Case Taper, and dust collectors.
- Perform moderate to complex adjustments, maintenance, and packaging and pneumatic equipment repairs.
- Perform changeover and set-up of packaging machines, troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical systems, and make appropriate repairs to machines.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on plant equipment such as packaging, conveyors, and compressors.
- Assist with equipment installations within the plant structure.
- Complete work orders to repair machinery.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform necessary maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and adjust.
- Used various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to perform duties.
- Set up complete line configurations of multiple pieces of equipment independently.
- Detect faulty operations and defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Ensures full compliance with Company policies, procedures, cGMPs, Ethical practices, and SOPs.
- Ensures that documentation such as operation logs and batch records is fully completed, signed, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that the product meets applicable quality standards.
- This includes inspecting quality during operation and performing all necessary sampling and testing.
- Guides and coaches Packaging Operators in the safe and effective operation of packaging line machines.
- This includes training to assist with breakdown and cleaning /sanitation of the machine parts and components.
- Maintain proper gowning and hygiene to ensure the integrity of the product, as per SOPs, cGMPs, and company policies.
- Follows all safety rules and procedures and observes the operations to ensure a safe environment.
- Assists with other mechanical or maintenance needs of the building as necessary.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in packaging mechanics.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nutritional supplements, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a PC.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team and assist others.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and, where necessary, complete items including a blueprint, an electrical schematic, operating and maintenance manuals, a work order, repair parts request, standard and metric tape measure, and other measuring equipment, including a micrometer, a caliper, a scale, and a VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter).
- Able to follow written instructions precisely and perform basic math calculations as required.
- Understands and is knowledgeable of cGMP and OSHA standards.
- Mechanically inclined to understand the inner workings of equipment, and must be able to disassemble, repair, and troubleshoot machines.
- Demonstrates the ability to read and write basic English to understand the industry-regulated instruction sheets.
- PLC.
- The Packaging Mechanic must be knowledgeable about each component of a packaging line.
- The person must be capable of operating multiple machines at one time and learning to operate various equipment within the packaging area.

- Physical Requirements (lifting).
- Ability to lift to 35 lbs, occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must stand and walk on the production floor for at least 7 hours per shift.
- Uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, lifting to waist height or above shoulder height, frequent bending from the waist, or squatting, walking short distances.
- Occasionally works from a rolling ladder or step stool, must be able to lean over equipment, and kneel on the floor to clean under the equipment.
- Must be able to wear all PPE, including lab coat, face mask, booties, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, and respirators.
- Work Environment (Office, Warehouse, temperature extremes).
- Work is regularly performed inside a manufacturing environment where temperatures can be moderate, exposure to dust, odors, noise, and fumes.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Employees can be exposed daily to chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Travel.
