The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker to join our team in a full-time position to work within our Central Administration Team. Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. This position will support the department by providing clinical support to multi-specialties working as part of our Central Administration team under our Ambulatory Operations team.

Responsibilities

The Pediatric Licensed Master Social Worker will be dedicated to enhancing the well-being of children and their families. This job demands a unique blend of empathy, clinical skills, and an in-depth understanding of child development and family dynamics.



  • Provide psychosocial counseling and support to the children and the family experiencing emotional, social and economic conflict.
  • Asses the social, emotional, and environmental needs of the patient.
  • Coordinate with medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Participate, consult and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and others involved in the patients' care.
  • Assist family and staff in utilizing community resources and support services.
  • Provide parents with guidance regarding supportive resources to the family and siblings.
  • Educate families about illness management and treatment plans.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children within the medical setting.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case records and documentation.
  • Provide training and education to healthcare staff about social work principles.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Effective time management; Strong communication skills; Strong organizing / planning skills; multi-tasking and pro-active.
  • Effective teamwork; Proficient with technology and with EPIC.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the community served.


Other Requirements



  • Must have a current NYS MSW license.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent.
