We are searching for a talented Laboratory Assistant - Histology

Hours: 40hrs

Shift: Day shift, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Location: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the department Clinical Specialist and Pathologists and in coordination with Medical and Administrative Director and Laboratory Managers, perform basic pre-analytical technical and clerical duties including but not limited to: specimen receipt, specimen integrity acceptability, specimen processing, assist with basic hazardous chemical waste disposal, stain filtration and set up for fresh froze section reagents, and cleaning of instruments.


Qualifications

  • Successful completion of High School or equivalency required.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Up to and including one year experience.
  • Combination of education and experience as a microbiology specimen processor/lab assistant equivalent for at least 6 months accepted.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
