We have a Principal Electrical Engineer position available in Winslow, ME. This person will provide and foster technical excellence and valued leadership within the Power Engineering team and clients in the Electric Utility market. In addition, this role provides Account, Project Management and Technical Expertise for various sized projects.

Responsibilities



  • Report to the Business Unit Manager and responsible for technical expertise in protection & control; with a breadth of knowledge to coordinate design, relay settings and testing/commissioning efforts
  • Develop and enhance the positive culture of the business unit and ensure proper operations of the team
  • Support Business Unit recruitment and hiring per strategic staffing plan
  • Contribute to evaluation of project needs and competency of business unit staff to achieve optimum resource pool
  • Share technical expertise with business unit staff to facilitate their career development planning and growth
  • Support the Business Unit Manager, Business Development team, and Operations Manager(s) on business development activities
  • Contribute to business unit's special initiatives like internship and community service programs
  • Manage key accounts / customers including, client-specific staffing, business development, and strategic planning
  • Development of project budget, execution plans, work breakdown structures and schedules
  • Ability to effectively manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality for projects of varying size and complexity, including customer and business unit reporting of scope, schedule, and earned value


Education



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Licensed Professional Engineer

Experience

A minimum of 15 years power engineering experience including both technical and supervisory responsibilities. Strong leadership and client relation skills required. Experience should include:



  • Lead engineering and design projects from project conception through execution
  • Develop customer specific construction specifications
  • Develop conceptual P&C one-lines
  • Develop detailed P&C one-lines and three-lines
  • Develop detailed P&C schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Develop relay settings consistent with P&C design
  • Support of testing & commissioning activities
  • Apply NEC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO, NERC, OSHA and other organization's regulations and standards in the provided designs and installations
  • Work on the detailed design for Industrial and Utility low, medium and high voltage generation, distribution and transmission electrical systems
  • Provide control enclosure manufacturing support and designs such as station electrical service, lighting, cable-tray, AC load center, DC load centers, battery sizing and other facility design requirements.
  • Engineering, Project Management, and Construction detailed cost estimating
  • Develop detailed proposals for contract engineering opportunities
  • Develop detailed proposals for Owner's Engineer, Project Management, Construction Management, and Project Controls opportunities
  • Lead junior staff in engineering and design efforts
  • Communicate effectively with WM employees and clients alike


Working Environment

Hybrid mix of standard office environment and work-from-home: frequent use of work computer, facsimiles, copy machines, and other office equipment. The ability to travel for client/project needs is strongly preferred.
