Description

RF Systems Engineer III - "W-TRS" Fort Polk, Louisiana

Exempt Salary role

V2X is seeking an RF Systems Engineer to support critical Combat Training Center (CTC) communications infrastructure for the U.S. Army. This role is essential for ensuring optimal radio frequency (RF) system performance across multiple mission areas, including live training environments and exercise support. The RF Systems Engineer will lead efforts in frequency planning, interference mitigation, RF coverage optimization, and end-to-end system validation.

The engineer will serve as a technical authority on RF systems and associated transmit/receive components. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and documenting RF maintenance activities, performing periodic measurements such as VSWR testing, and ensuring frequency compliance and system performance in dynamic operational environments.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related engineering development experience working in the DoD industry.
  • Develop and manage frequency plans to ensure compliant and interference-free operations across all training environments.
  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate RF interference issues through structured de-confliction strategies and coordination with spectrum management authorities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and tuning of RF subsystems, including performing VSWR measurements and ensuring antennas, cabling, and transceivers operate at peak performance.
  • Conduct RF coverage assessments and propagation studies to validate signal availability in training zones and exercise areas.
  • Plan and execute end-to-end RF system testing and validation prior to training rotations or other mission-critical activities.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Field Technicians, and Government stakeholders to align RF engineering efforts with operational and mission requirements.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of RF configurations, test results, and tuning records to support system sustainment and readiness reporting.
  • Support engineering assessments for system upgrades, RF component obsolescence, and the integration of emerging technologies as part of lifecycle management.

Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current of Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with spectrum management tools and RF planning software.
  • Knowledge of military frequency assignment processes and standards.
  • Proficiency in RF measurement tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and field strength meters.
  • Familiarity with RF path analysis, coverage modeling, and antenna design/selection principles.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one, depending on program requirements.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics and 8+ years of relevant experience
