Main Duties & Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Plans and conducts research and development activities that support in the
introduction of new products for manufacture. Reviews and conducts
activities for current products that are subject to revisions.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies:
Identifies, in conjunction with engineers and engineering management, promising
areas of fastener products that address unmet needs and have potential market
share available.
Communicates overview of all products under development and their stage of
development to engineers and engineering management.
Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as
objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from
findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resources required.
Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and
possible applications justify expenditures.
Conducts design reviews with engineers and submits proposals considered
feasible to engineering management for consideration and allocation of funds.
Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as
preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports,
and conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each
projects.
Tracks industry trends and competitor activities.
The pay scale for this position ranges from
$70,000.00-$75,000.00 annually
Qualifications
OTHER COMPETENCIES:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and vendors.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Other Qualifications:
Some travel may be required.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software; Development software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor's degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. Four (4) years related experience, or cumulative combination of education and experience. One (1) year experience with research and development responsibility in a high-volume manufacturing environment with methods and processing exposure is highly desired.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this ob., the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
