Setting: 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Status: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Non-Management

SUMMARY

This position will report to Accounting Manager directly, is part of the Finance Department and is responsible for supporting the operational needs of The People's Concern. This position will fully support the department by processing daily activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and other transactional accounting functions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process all invoices, petty cash, credit card expense forms, check requests, and cash receipt documents for appropriate documentation and approval. Enter the transactions into Accounting system accurately and timely.
2. Proactively communicate with programs for data/information verification, missing data/files following up.
3. Collect W-9 Forms and other applicable contracts related to new vendors for entry into the accounting system.
4. Allocate costs using the approved cost allocation plan schedules.
5. Process weekly check run on a timely manner.
6. Make any coding revisions and obtain approvals as needed.
7. Act as liaison between vendors and the agency; answer all vendor inquiries.
8. Maintain all electronic and paper filing of AP and AR reports, spreadsheets, and files, including scanning and attaching invoices or deposits to accounting system transactions.
9. Assist in month-end closing by ensuring all ordinary accounts payable, credit card payable, and cash receipts are entered into the accounting system.
10. Prepare accounts reconciliations as requested; perform filing and copying as required.
11. Process checks requests outside the normal accounting cycle as requested.
12. Assist with the annual audit and various funder and grant billing audits and any other necessary reports on organizational functions.
13. Prepare journal and post journal entries as necessary.
14. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
15. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
* Minimum one year of experience in general accounting (Government funded nonprofit agency experience preferred)
* Strong Excel skills for data analysis; familiar with V-lookup, Pivot Tables, etc.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
* High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
* Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
* Excellent organizational skills
* Advanced computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and accounting systems. QuickBooks, Blackbaud Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge and financial reporting software skills are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

* LA County DMH, DHS, LAHSA, etc. government contracts fiscal working experiences.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environment
* On occasion drive to different local sites
* Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 35 pounds
* Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
* Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
* May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
