Traffic Control Technician

In this position, you will provide technical assistance to both internal and external clients regarding signing and detour matters. You will create initial detour routes for various projects upon receiving requests from your supervisor or the Traffic Engineer for Scoping Field Views. It is essential to save all plans in both Micro Station and an Adobe file within the designated folder on the J: drive. Additionally, you will review detour plans from both in-house and consultant sources to ensure 100% accuracy and completeness, verifying that the selected routes comply with Pub 213. Any necessary modifications should be marked in red on the plans before returning them to the sender and your supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and graduation from high school; or
• One year of experience performing transportation engineering technical assignments, such as traffic control data collection, highway sign surveys, traffic signal inspection, materials sampling, testing, or inspection, construction inspection, bridge inspection, survey work, utility relocation, roadway programs management, or roadway materials control; and an Associate's Degree in the field of mathematics, statistics, or a civil engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
