Genesis10 is seeking an Metadata Lead Data Catalog for a contract to hire position with a leading client in Columbus, OH.

Compensation: $65-75 per hour W2

Job Description:


The Enterprise Data and Architecture team is growing, and we're looking for an outstanding Metadata Lead to join our team as we implement the Alation Data Catalog. This colleague will play a pivotal role in driving the technology and metadata operation enhancements for data governance throughout the company. The Metadata team's experience in all phases of the data lifecycle and collaboration will facilitate the transformation of data strategy and support the data users' business needs. The Metadata Lead will apply their knowledge and skills to ensure our catalog appropriately inventories a variety of metadata, improving colleagues' ability to self-service. We want team members who drive solutions that better serve our customers, support our communities, and make our colleagues' lives better.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead continuous Improvement of the data catalog to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Manage the diagnosis of issues with existing platform configurations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead internal groups in resolving data concerns.
  • Update cataloged metadata as appropriate based on input from technical or business stakeholders.
  • Use business acumen and functional stakeholder input to recommend and implement process improvements supporting data catalog implementation.
  • Build strong working relationships throughout the enterprise.
  • Serve as a functional expert on our metadata management and data quality tools, while communicating with other teams via robust data storytelling.
  • Assist in bulk curation of content from existing organizational sources (structured and unstructured)
  • Assist in bulk curation validation utilizing SQL query review scripts and processes
  • Validate ingested metadata as compared to sources via queries and the Alation UI
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering
  • 3+ years of related experience working with Alation data catalog or similar tooling
  • 3+ years of experience leading colleagues/work efforts and managing toward deadlines
  • SQL and/or Python coding experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated to deliver results across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines
  • Experience working independently with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated experience with data management concepts including data governance, data quality, master data management, data lineage, metadata, and reference data management
  • Demonstrated competency of organizing and facilitating problem solving in a group environment
  • Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and fill different roles within the team
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis and process engineering
  • Ability to think conceptually and abstractly
  • Demonstrated perseverance
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and partnership skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
