COMSEC Engineer Mid-level

We are seeking a COMSEC Engineer Professional to join our team to help contribute to our success and help us solve problems with innovation through intelligence

Position Overview:

The COMSEC Engineer will support the development and certification of F-35 ECUs and their integration into the F-35 platforms.This individual must have four (4) or more years of experience performing work related to the labor category functional description. A Mid-level person typically performs all functional duties independently.

The COMSEC Engineer will perform the following responsibilities:



  • Perform COMSEC engineering for the F-35 systems cryptographic and key management architecture.
  • Provide support for certification and accreditation activities for operational systems when required to include compliance with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Assist with National Security Agency (NSA) approval of cryptographic changes to the baseline F-35 End Cryptographic Units (ECUs) as well as new developments of F-35 ECUs, includes validating the usage of F-35 keying material to the operational controlling authorities.
  • Facilitate and attend working groups/meetings to assist in developing accreditation packages.
  • Consolidate material for accreditation packages and submit documentation to Government security leads.
  • Provide SME-level guidance on design of equipment and necessary support, and recommend tasks to Government security leads.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Required Skills (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):



  • Knowledge of security engineering services.
  • Demonstrated experience with system developers and international partners in cryptographic algorithms and end cryptographic unit.
  • Relevant experience with system security architectures and cryptographic designs required to be releasable to NATO and Foreign Military Sales.
  • Possess familiarity with NSA UIC process.
  • Familiarity with one or all of the following strongly recommended: DISA STIGS, SCAP scans, and/or REM/Retina/ACAS scans.
  • Knowledge of DOD policies/directives/instructions (DOD 8500.01, DOD 4200.1-R, DOD 5200.2, DODI 5215.1, DODI O-8530.2, DOD 8510.01).
  • Ability to constructively engage and resolve challenging situations.
  • Available to work before/after typical office hours as work may demand.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills.
  • Independent self-starter, proactive and professional assertive, ability to multitask.

Qualifications

Years of Experience/Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in the stated discipline.
  • Four years ofexperience in developing COMSEC key architecture and in End Cryptological Unit (ECU) deliverables, process and certification.
  • Specialized experience in cryptographic algorithms and interface with systems developers and international partners.
  • Familiarity with NSA UIC process.
  • Familiarity with KMI and EKMS systems.



Clearance:



  • Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance required and current within the last five years.
