Job Description

The University of Missouri's College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Academic Adviser. This position plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive academic guidance to undergraduate students while also coordinating the College's scholarship program and contributing to retention strategies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to student success, equity, and professional development.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Academic Advising:
o Provide holistic and personalized academic advising to undergraduate students, guiding them through critical academic and career decisions.
o Counsel students on degree requirements, co-curricular activities, and professional resources to support their goals.
o Maintain accurate and confidential electronic records of student interactions.
* Scholarship Coordination:
o Manage the College of Engineering's scholarship program for college-level awards, including awarding, stewardship, and donor relations.
o Coordinate communication between scholarship recipients, donors, and internal stakeholders.
o Oversee events such as scholarship dinners and manage related processes, such as thank-you notes and student profiles.

Shift

* Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
* Occasional evening and weekend events may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
* Minimum of three years of experience in academic advising, teaching, or student support within higher education.
* Proven ability to manage processes, such as scholarship administration.
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
* Experience with technology platforms used in academic advising and student success monitoring.

Required Skills:
* Commitment to supporting all students.
* Demonstrated ability to provide 1:1 support requiring patience and follow-through.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
* Proficiency in using student information systems and other advising tools.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
Grade: GGS 008
