Job Summary

The Director of Undergraduate Analytics and Assessment (D-UAA) supports the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success (VPUESS) and the leadership of the Office of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (OUESS) on a broad range of projects related to undergraduate student success at Georgia Tech. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives & Operations, the D-UAA leads the OUESS assessment and data analytics team, and works in close partnership with the Office of Academic Effectiveness (OAE) and Institutional Research and Planning (IRP) to develop and implement assessment strategies; support accreditation processes; develop predictive analytics that inform advising, curricular navigation, and student success efforts; and translate complex data into actionable insights to support institutional decision-making and student success initiatives. The position is responsible for overseeing divisional efforts to collect, analyze, and report data that documents outcomes and informs the continuous improvement of OUESS programs and services.

Responsibilities

Examples of expected responsibilities of the D-UAA include but are not limited to:

Assessment, Accreditation, and Program Review:

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive assessment plan for OUESS units and programs aligned with OAE, University System of Georgia policies, SACSCOC standards, and the Institute's Strategic Plan (ISP).
  • Collaborate with OUESS units to design, implement, and evaluate effective assessment practices.
  • In coordination with the Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives and Operations, oversee OUESS's internal program review process, including data reporting and documentation.
  • Complete benchmarking studies as requested for OUESS programs and services and in support of other institutional goals for undergraduate education.
  • Serve as OUESS's lead for SACSCOC accreditation processes and reporting, including drafting narratives assigned to OUESS for 5- and 10-year compliance reports and supporting other accreditation activities as requested.

Data Analytics and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to learning outcomes, retention, graduation rates, and other key performance indicators.
  • Develop infographics, dashboards, reports, and presentations that inform data, planning, and decision-making as requested.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders including OUESS leadership.
  • In coordination with the Executive Director of Academic Success and Advising (ED-ASA), develop and implement Undergraduate

Advising and Student Success Analytics for EAB Navigate 360.

  • Work with curricular analytical techniques to examine undergraduate students pathways and progress to degree completion and partner with faculty and academic leadership to inform responsive innovation based on the results of analyses.
  • Take the lead on preparing OUESS's annual impact report in partnership with OUESS's director of communications.
  • Contribute to data and review for Georgia Tech's Complete College Georgia report.
  • Prepare other data summaries and reports for the VPUESS.

Strategic Planning and Policy Development Support:

  • Oversee data, metrics and reporting for OUESS's Strategic Alignment Plan (SAP) in coordination with the ISP process.
  • Serve as point of contact for OUESS's engagement in the ISP, including managing reporting and responding to requests for data and other outcomes information
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in data-informed practices and policies that support academic quality and effectiveness.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • In partnership with OUESS's director of communications, take the lead on communicating data/assessment insights; developing a communication plan for OUESS's strategic alignment plan; and developing OUESS's annual (impact) report.
  • Leverage student engagement, enrollment trends, and program performance data to inform and optimize OUESS marketing and communication strategies, including targeted outreach, messaging effectiveness, and campaign impact.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for OUESS faculty and staff on assessment methods, data literacy, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison with IRP, OAE, academic affairs, the Office of Information Technology, and student services units to coordinate and implement undergraduate data initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leaders of OUESS student support and co-curricular programs to ensure data insights are used to enhance the student experience, close achievement gaps, and strengthen programs that support student learning, development, and success.
  • Promote a holistic understanding of the student journey by connecting data across units and helping OUESS teams align their efforts to better support students' academic progress, personal growth, and career readiness.

Educational Research and Teaching:

  • Support the VPUESS in preparing and analyzing data for educational research projects related to undergraduate education and student success.
  • As time permits, engage in educational research projects aligned with the goals of OUESS.
  • Based on academic qualifications and approvals of appropriate academic or administrative units, teach classes in fields related to assessment and analytics.

OUESS Administration and Other Duties:

  • Lead onboarding and ongoing training for OUESS employees on Georgia Tech policies for data security, cybersecurity, data governance, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and related policies.
  • Serve on committees to represent the VPUESS and/or OUESS, including governance committees for student information systems and for data.
  • Chair the OUESS Assessment Committee.
  • Supervise professional and/or student staff. Currently the data analytics team is composed of an Assistant Director for Undergraduate Assessment and a Data Scientist. Funding to hire graduate student support may also be available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Education/Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional.
  • Quality of performance and potential development must be recognized by peers.

Senior Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Education/Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field.
  • Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local).
  • Successful and measurable related experience.
  • Five (5) years or more as an Academic Professional (or equivalent rank)

Principal Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Education/Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field
  • Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local)
  • Successful and measurable related experience supervising others' work
  • Successful and measurable related experience in a position of significant responsibility, and authority within program area, and demonstrated impact.
  • Six (6) years or more as a Senior Academic Professional (or equivalent rank)
Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • An earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) or equivalent terminal degree in Education/Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative discipline appropriate to the performance of the Responsibilities (above). Candidates who have a Masters degree and who have completed all requirements but the dissertation (ABD) and are within 2 years of completion of a doctorate may also be considered.

Experience, Skills, Abilities

  • At least 5 years of experience in assessment, institutional research, or data analytics in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment methodologies, accreditation standards (e.g., regional accreditors such as MSCHE, SACSCOC, HLC, WSCUC), and data governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and collaborate with a broad range of campus stakeholders, including faculty, students, and staff.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R,) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) and database systems.
  • Experience with research and report writing, including the ability to summarize analyses of data to varied audiences and to constituents in a clear and concise manner.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with undergraduate curricular initiatives, primarily within STEM disciplines
  • Experience working with student success, advising, and/or retention platforms (e.g., EAB, Starfish, Civitas, etc.)
  • Basic familiarity with curricular analytics as a tool to understand student progression through degree programs.
  • Experience with quantitative or qualitative research methods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, attention to detail, emotional intelligence, intercultural competence, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supervising professional and/or graduate student staff.
Proposed Salary

Compensation is competitive and based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. Candidates who have a Masters degree and who are ABD and within 2 years of completion of a doctorate may also be considered for the associate academic professional rank.

The appointment as D-UAA is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track academic faculty position at the rank of academic professional (academic rank may be negotiable depending on selected candidate's credentials). The anticipated start date will be August 1, 2025, but it is negotiable.
