Job Description

Elwyn seeks a Director of Advancement Operations to be responsible for leading and executing the organization's annual giving program and ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of donor data management. This position oversees all aspects of appeals, donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and prospect research. The role ensures donors are engaged and recognized through personalized communication and strategic fundraising initiatives. The individual will also support the organization's fundraising goals by maintaining accurate donor records, managing campaign performance tracking, and identifying new giving opportunities through research and data analysis. This role collaborates cross-functionally to enhance donor experiences and improve fundraising outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Annual Appeals
    • Develop and implement an annual giving program, including drafting appeals, developing marketing strategies, donor segmentation, and tracking campaign performance.
  • Data Management
    • Oversee gift processing including recording donations (mail, web, event, etc.) and generate thank you letters. Ensure donors are acknowledged using timely, effective, appropriate, and consistent methods.
    • Conduct monthly and yearly donation reconciliations.
    • Perform routine database maintenance by removing or archiving inactive, duplicate, or outdated records to improve database efficiency, accuracy, and performance.
    • Generate reports on donors, fundraising metrics, mailings, etc.
  • Stewardship
    • Develop and implement donor stewardship plans, including recognition events, impact reports, giving societies, and other communication strategies.
  • Prospect Research
    • Identify prospective donors, foundations, and corporations by researching their interests, giving history, and capacity.
    • Compile and analyze research data to create detailed profiles and reports on prospective and existing donors, including wealth assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience in operations, nonprofit fundraising, or related fields
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and DonorPerfect
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Effective project and deadline management
  • Relationship-driven and passionate about working with staff and people with disabilities
  • Skilled at building professional relationships with management, volunteers, and donors
  • Self-starter, adept at both independent work and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Experience with unionized workforces (preferred)
  • Non-profit human service experience (highly preferred)
  • Effective team player
  • Adaptability in fast-paced environments with competing priorities
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solving and anticipation of needed changes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
