The Director, HR is the lead Business Partner to the Vice President, Operations of Forged Products (FP), a $800M business unit with world-class thermomechanical processing and manufacturing.

The organization comprises ~1700 employees with seven unions across seven sites and two countries. The Director, HR is a critical member of the FP Human Resources Team with responsibility as a strategic advisor and driver of labor, talent, and culture initiatives to deliver business results, e.g., OD/OE, succession planning, performance management, recruiting, employee engagement, employee and labor relations, career and capability development, workforce planning/analytics. The role reports to the Sr Director, HR. This person will lead a team of 4 that comprises of HRBP's and a Labor Relations Manager focused on ATI's WI Operations.


  • Support and execute data driven workforce plans required to deliver the business strategic and operational goals, including labor (union negotiations) recruiting, development, engagement and annual talent assessment processes, while driving a higher performance culture.
  • Develop and drive stakeholder change management plans appropriate to support incremental and transformational organizational change.
  • Act as a coach to operations leadership
  • Provide organization development and effectiveness strategies and solutions which respond to a dynamic and evolving business organization.
  • Manage employee relations, partnering with key stakeholders to develop strategies and mitigate risk.
  • Support and execute key HR processes and initiatives, leveraging and partnering with COEs.
  • Benchmark against human resource/talent best practices and implement innovation and continuous improvement in support of a dynamic, evolving business organization.
  • Champion the development and implementation of enterprise policies and practices that improve the company's ability to recruit, develop, and retain talent.
  • Organize, staff, motivate and lead a highly effective HR team that delivers value to the organization with expert recruiting, training and development, succession planning and other human capital activities.
  • Facilitate positive working relationships and accountability within and across the business and HR function.
  • Travel (<10%) to conduct in-person meetings, reviews, facility / plant tours, etc.

You're comfortable on the shop floor or in the boardroom and can navigate a large decentralized highly matrixed organization with ease. You're creative, agile and adaptable but work with precision to ensure we deliver top-notch customer experiences, always.

    You also have:



    • Bachelor's degree in Labor/Employee Relations, Business Management or Human Resources or relevant discipline
    • 6+ years of strategic business partnership experience, with team leadership in a complex progressive environment along with a strong track record of personal achievement and advancement
    • Labor/union negotiation experience
    • Experience & proven competency as an influential member of a manufacturing operations team.
    • Exceptional leader coach
    • Broad understanding of management styles, HR polices, compensation, legal, and employment issues
    • Strong strategic agility, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills - proven high learning agility
    • Decisive, yet highly collaborative and inclusive
    • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced setting; enthusiastic about the potential strategic options facing ATI; well-grounded in pragmatic approaches to structuring options available
    • Experience working in the context of a large and complex organization, where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success.
    • Experience in driving change to deliver business results - knows what it takes to help transform an organization
    • Excellent presentation and communication/skills, and overall business acumen
    • Strong interpersonal skills along with exceptional influence skills - ability and credibility to establish a strong network and align with functional peers and business leaders across a matrixed organization
    • Ability to move seamlessly between execution and strategic thought, development and alignment
    • Aspiration for continued growth
