The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Faculty Support, the incumbent provides general programmatic, administrative, and secretarial support to Law School faculty, centers, and programs.

Responsibilities



  • Provides administrative support to several professors of law and center directors, including gathering and organizing materials relating to instructional and research activities, scheduling meetings, keeping calendars, and receiving visitors.
  • Assists with planning and coordinating programs (such as seminars, colloquia, special events, and conferences), arranging publicity, catering, travel arrangements, reimbursements, and honoraria.
  • Acts as liaison between professors, fellows, guest speakers, students, scholars, and other academic institutions.
  • Provides administrative assistance to visiting scholars, fellows, and faculty as assigned.
  • Arranges travel itineraries and prepares travel and business expense reports for submission to the Business Office.
  • Works with faculty, students, and the Clerkship Office in preparing clerkship and other letters of recommendation.
  • Prepares course materials and syllabi; updates course website (CourseWorks); assigns groups to teaching assistants and schedules TA sessions and review sessions/and makeup classes.
  • Performs basic legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal software databases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Faculty Support.


Minimum Qualifications



  • HS diploma or the equivalent. Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of highly successful administrative experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • The ability to work creatively and independently is necessary.
  • Must be adaptable in learning and implementing new technologies as needed for maximizing task performance.
  • Some knowledge and background in Chinese and/or Japanese studies preferred.
  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and work well under pressure, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high-volume operation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Tact and diplomacy, and the ability to exercise judgment in matters that are sensitive and confidential are required.
  • Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.
