Essential Responsibilities

* Maintain open communication with Study Directors, Program Managers and Sponsors.

* Prepare reagents, vehicles, solutions and suspensions following applicable SOPs, Protocols, and/or sponsor instructions for GLP and Non-GLP studies.

* Maintain formulation data for all studies in an organized manner per SOPs

* Write or edit formulation related sections within protocols and reports as needed.

* Develop and maintain SOPs, address applicable QA audits, and correspond with internal and external Sponsors as needed.

* Act as the technical lead for Formulations. Participate in sponsor kickoff meetings to provide technical expertise as well as gather pertinent information to relay to staff for upcoming studies.

* Provide neat test article/substance projections for upcoming studies and work closely with the Study Directors and Project Manager to ensure all formulation related supplies are available.

* Prepare and oversee dose formulation calculations and preparations for in vitro and in vivo experiments.

* Oversee and maintain an up-to-date chemical repository when working with neat test article.

* Maintain appropriate paperwork for all chemicals, including, but not limited to, SDS; certificate of analysis; chain of custody forms or packing slips; all ILS forms related to formulation preparation, disposal, etc.

* Oversee and perform solubility testing as needed.

* Ensure chemical disposal is handled per local, state, and federal regulations.

* Maintain study reserve samples.

* Work in a team environment with a professional and positive attitude

* Other duties as needed

Management Responsibilities

* Supervise the individuals within the formulation laboratory.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

* Education:

o B.S. in chemistry or related field

* Experience:

o 5 years in chemistry or related field

* Skills:

o Ability to perform basic unit conversion calculations

o Ability to adapt formulation instructions provided by a sponsor for use on a given study.

o Ability to problem solve in a changing environment

o Experience working under GLP or regulatory requirements

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

o Excellent computer skills working with MS Word/Excel/Powerpoint

o Attention to detail

o Excellent organizational skills

o Ability to exercise independent judgment

Working Environment

* Primarily laboratory (routine safety equipment, as needed)

* Occasional office

* Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work required

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
