This is a hybrid role, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, based out of Headquarters in Maple Plain, MN.
Join Protolabs as the Director of Sales for Grow and Expand Accounts and lead a team dedicated to transforming potential into performance. You'll spearhead a passionate group of over 40 sales and account managers, targeting our mid-tier, high-potential customers. Our mission? To evolve these accounts into the enterprise giants of tomorrow, in perfect harmony with our cutting-edge Go-to-Market strategy.
You'll be at the helm of steering a significant $100M revenue stream, working closely with our innovative marketing, product, and fulfillment divisions to craft and execute transformative growth strategies. The Director of Sales will be a member of the Americas GTM leadership team and report directly to the VP of Sales and Customer Success for the Americas.

You will
  • Lead and Inspire: Cultivate a top-tier team focused on growing our mid-tier accounts by recruiting and retaining talent, while providing invaluable training and mentorship. Your leadership will set the benchmark for excellence.
  • Collaborative Culture: Forge powerful partnerships with adjacent Sales Directors, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and relentless improvement that reverberates through the entire organization.
  • Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with leaders in Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to craft visionary long-term strategies and annual plans that not only engage but captivate our customers, achieving or surpassing revenue targets.
  • Strategic Impact: Collaborate with the Sales Leadership team to define business objectives and performance metrics for the Americas, seamlessly aligning them with our global vision.
  • Team Triumphs: Promote a unified team environment where sales, customer service, and application engineering synergize to win together.
  • Innovate and Improve: Analyze sales and marketing effectiveness, offering insights and recommendations for transformative improvements.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Facilitate open lines of communication and commitment across departments, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Drive Success: Define and oversee all sales initiatives for the Grow and Expand sales teams, ensuring consistent achievement of revenue goals.
  • Measure and Forecast: Leverage advanced sales tools to provide insights into performance metrics, including customer prospecting and sales orders, while forecasting sales revenue and expenses to align with projections.
  • Ethical Leadership: Uphold company policies and business ethics, ensuring they are ingrained within the team culture and practice.
  • Champion Initiatives: Lead company initiatives, strategies, and platforms with enthusiasm and commitment, showcasing your integral role in our continuous innovation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
What it takes
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Finance, Marketing or related field OR equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 8+ years of sales leadership experience in a high growth environment.
  • 4+ years of experience in leading managers or other senior level managers.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage high-performance, result-oriented teams. Extensive experience in leading teams with dynamic and transforming environments while managing through change and ensuring smooth transitions and continuous team engagement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crafting and executing long-term growth strategies, working collaboratively with cross-functional leadership teams to consistently surpass growth and profit objectives.
  • Dynamic and results-oriented leader with a proven track record of inspiring and motivating teams to achieve performance objectives.
  • Possesses strong data-driven expertise in establishing, monitoring, and analyzing revenue metrics and pipeline data to optimize team performance.
  • Proven track record in forecasting and achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual booking targets.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Solid business acumen, with an in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in computer systems and CRM software solutions.

The base salary range for this role is $130,500-$195,700 USD/year with a Total Cash range of $200,000 - $300,00 USD/year.
Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.
Proto Labs maintains ITAR-compliant operations in all of our United States based facilities. Physical Demands:

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
