As the Director of Maintenance, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining maintenance objectives, strategies, and initiatives that align with business goals. This includes overseeing the entire maintenance process-ranging from equipment installation and preventive upkeep to inspections and repairs. You will create a maintenance strategy for the entire organization, ensuring the highest standards of reliability, safety, and operational efficiency are consistently met. This leadership role includes direct oversight of multiple Maintenance Managers and a team of technicians. Key Essential Functions/Duties:
- Maintain food safety & quality compliance that meets or exceeds customer requirements and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead a culture that engages employees at all levels to improve performance, efficiency, and cost.
- Oversee maintenance department daily operations by monitoring and driving department performance related to equipment; and monitoring and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (i.e. OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, etc.) relating to maintenance operations.
- Oversee and direct financial aspects assigned and/or in area of responsibility by monitoring and tracking expenses compared to budget; monitoring asset utilization; and preparing, reviewing, and/or analyzing business reports.
- Design and implement ongoing training programs to enhance the technical skills and operational efficiency of the maintenance team. Ensure personnel are equipped with up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations, industry's best practices, and new technologies.
- Create and coordinate maintenance strategies and tactics across the organization.
- Develop and implement a maintenance asset management process. Ensure an effective preventative maintenance program is in place and is being fully implemented. Reduce downtime and increase line availability through proper preventive maintenance planning and equipment inspection.
- Develop and oversee efficient spare parts inventory systems to ensure timely availability of critical components, minimizing downtime and optimizing maintenance operations. Implement procurement strategies, supplier coordination, and stock control measures to balance cost-effectiveness with operational reliability.
- Collaborate with the Plant Director of Operations in advancing a continuous improvement culture, anchored in operational/maintenance discipline, and root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering in a successful commissioning and handoff of capital projects.

Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Production/Operations Management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum of 15 years' work experience in industrial maintenance operations experience, with 8 years serving in a leadership capacity, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Experience managing maintenance within an Operations Excellence Environment (Toyota Production Systems (TPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean) with responsibility for developing processes, implementing programs, and ensuring deployment preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- 8 years of relevant Project Management or Maintenance Reliability experience preferred.
- Related professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, locations, and disciplines.
- Must have demonstrated organizational and planning skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Previous experience managing budgets, developing manpower forecasts and analyzing financial/operational data.
- Experience with industrial maintenance processes including preventative maintenance, and material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and related software, and computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
