Position: Machine Operator, 1st Shift/ Salisbury, MA

Position is considered: non-exempt

Position Reports to: Shift Production Manager

Number of Employees Reporting to this Position: 0

Qualifications for the Position:

A High School degree or equivalent training. A minimum of three months directly related experience. Ability to understand production schedules. Familiar with the operation of production machinery. Good mechanical skills. Ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Physical: The ability to stand, walk, see, and hear, use of both hands, able to lift 60lbs.

Primary Responsibilities for this position:

Follows the written and verbal instructions of Supervisors to meet the requirements of the production schedule. Insure the accuracy of all manufacturing data related to finished goods production. Maintains a continual monitoring of assigned manufacturing equipment as to conformance to quality standards. Responsibility for meeting established production rates for assigned equipment. Responsible for cleanliness of work area. Responsible for minimizing scrap. Follows all safety and company policy requirements

Typical Training Period for Position: 4 weeks

Typical Duties of the Position:

  1. Follows the requirements of assigned schedule to meet production demand.
  2. Sets up machinery based upon established specifications.
  3. Unloads and loads winders with material.
  4. Adjusts equipment to maintain proper quality standards.
  5. Cleans production area and assigned equipment.
  6. Notifies Supervisor of any problems.
  7. Completes projects and tasks as assigned.
  8. Advises the Production Manager on issues and improvements pertaining to areas of responsibility.
  9. Insures accuracy of information.
  10. Advises superior on issues regarding safety.
  11. Ensures the compliance of procedures to all company policies.
  12. Any other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or other higher level managers.

  1. Production volume.
  2. Quality of product processed.
  3. Cleanliness and physical condition of the assigned area.
  4. Attendance.
  5. Timeliness of completed schedules.
  6. Attendance at required meetings.
  7. Proper completion of projects.
  8. Proper and accurate paperwork.
  9. Compliance with all safety and company regulations for assigned area of responsibility.
