Overview

The Senior Product Quality Engineer has responsibility to identify, assess, and prioritize product
reliability issues that detract from customer satisfaction for resolution by corrective action teams.
This individual is the primary contact window for collecting information relative to
product failures and for communicating status of progress of resolution of issues to stakeholders
within QSC

Base Salary Range 100,000 - 115,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans and generous time off.

Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI) Quality (50%)

    Define and execute quality plans for new product launches, including PFMEA, process capability studies, control plan development, and readiness reviews.
  • Support pilot builds and reliability testing; oversee First Article Inspections and early production validations to ensure robust release to production.
  • Partner with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to embed DFX (Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Test, etc.) principles into the product lifecycle.

Customer Quality Management (15%)

  • Act as the primary quality interface for customer escalations, warranty issues, and field failures.
  • Lead structured problem-solving efforts (8D, DMAIC, A3) to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure timely resolution and long-term systemic improvements across the value chain.

Metrics and Continuous Improvement (20%)

  • Define and maintain KPIs related to customer returns, warranty cost, field failure rates, production yield, and defect escapes.
  • Prepare and present quality performance updates, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies to drive sustainable quality improvements.

Production & Supplier Quality Support (15%)

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives across internal assembly operations and at external contract manufacturers.
  • Lead internal and supplier audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and QSC's internal quality standards.
  • Analyze defect and yield data from production and field returns to identify trends and lead preventive quality initiatives.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or NPI Engineering roles, preferably within consumer electronics or high-mix, mass production environments. 7+ years preferred.
  • Proven experience with root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, or A3.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems, PFMEA, control plans, and quality inspection techniques.
  • Hands-on familiarity with PCBA, mechanical assemblies, and cross-functional product development or manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret yield, test, and field return data to drive actionable quality improvements.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate across teams and present technical content to both engineering and executive audiences
  • Certification(s) in Lean Six Sigma, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, particularly in Asia.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and systems such as SPC, First Article Inspections (FAI), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with ERP, QMS, and PLM systems (e.g., Oracle, Agile, Arena, Jira, Confluence).
  • Prior involvement in new product launches, including validation builds, production transfers, or production line setups.
  • Knowledge of audio technology, acoustics testing, or consumer electronics reliability methods is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% as needed
