Position Summary

The Portfolio Manager maintains responsibility for all aspects related to managing the client's investment strategy. Working with the Busey Advisory Team, the Portfolio Manager will help develop an investment strategy and manage the client's investment portfolio according to the established goals and objectives for the client, and in accordance with all internal and regulatory investment and fiduciary guidelines. The Portfolio Manager will also provide proactive portfolio monitoring and oversight, in conjunction with Busey's Investment Strategies Team. Regular communication with clients regarding latest market developments, investment positioning and investment performance will also be the responsibility of the Portfolio Manager.

This is a client-facing portfolio management position and assignments involve a high level of client contact; reports to the Chief Investment Officer. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manages client portfolios and administers client accounts within prescribed investment and fiduciary guidelines, governing documents, and Busey Wealth Management policies and procedures. Portfolio Manager will work as a part of a relationship team to deliver clients a diverse set of financial solutions, and to maximize each relationship.
  • In conjunction with local Private Wealth Advisor, Portfolio Manager will work to develop a comprehensive understanding of each clients' specific investment goals and objectives to construct individually tailored investment portfolios consistent with their goals and objectives.
  • Determines client's risk profile and educates the client about various strategies to align with their stated level of risk tolerance. The Portfolio Manager will ensure accounts are structured to comply with client's investment policy statement and correspond with current investment strategy.
  • Portfolio Manager will provide ongoing and regular client communication, daily monitoring, and portfolio rebalancing to ensure ongoing goals and objectives are being met. Position will play an active role within the relationship management team as it relates to IPS changes, Reg 9 reviews and other related forms and processes as required.
  • Portfolio Manager will oversee and manage client relationships with an emphasis on prudent fiduciary risk management, relationship growth and exceeding client expectations. Provides high-value, meaningful client interactions in conjunction with the client relationship team.
  • Position will continuously stay informed of developments in security markets, the current economic environment, and Busey Wealth Management's asset management strategy and allocations.

New Business Endeavors

  • Portfolio Manager will actively participate and engage in business development activities. Portfolio Manager will work with and assist local relationship team members as to prospects and to secure additional assets from existing clients.
  • Identifying opportunities for referrals to other lines of business within Busey Bank, as appropriate.
Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Proven decision making, sales and negotiating skills are required to guide sensitive or difficult situations to resolution
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision making
  • Clear communication skills, particularly in explaining financial principles and concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Portfolio management and trading software
  • Investment and portfolio management theory, accounting and financial principles, associated investment strategies and instruments, and characteristics of various marketplaces
  • Investment terminology, the laws and regulations governing trust investments and taxation, as well as the bank's investment policies, procedures and strategies

Ability to:

  • Be the face of the Investment Team for the local region, fostering a strong collaborative culture within the designated region
  • Assist in client prospecting efforts by coordinating competitive analysis, communicating investment story and making points of differentiation/value
  • Determine appropriate investment strategy based on clients' financial needs and objectives, considering outside assets and other non-standard holdings
  • Ensure investment strategy is implemented in a timely and accurate manner
  • Attend client meetings to communicate market developments, investment strategy and investment performance
  • Adjust client asset allocation and investment strategy as circumstances change
  • Respond to clients' investment related inquiries
  • Monitor portfolios on a regular basis to ensure adherence to investment strategy. Direct trades to stay on strategy when needed.
  • Develop and follow-up on plans to transition non-standard holdings to Busey's investment strategy
  • Work with the Investment Team to identify and implement tax loss harvesting opportunities
  • Provide direction and oversight related to asset location strategies
  • Manage cash appropriately, staying as fully invested as possible based on cash needs
  • Attend and participate in local region's client events & activities
  • Monitor clients' account performance vs models & benchmark while addressing any material performance differences
  • Set appropriate reporting benchmarks

Education & Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CFA or CFP a plus
  • 3+ years of investment management experience

Compensation and Benefits

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $130,000-$190,000)
