JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Applications are now being accepted for the Public Relations and Marketing Bednar Internship position during academic year 2025-2026 sponsored by the Penn State University Libraries Office Development and Alumni Relations. The successful candidate, who will be 5th semester or higher, will have the opportunity to write press releases working the University Libraries Public Relations and Marketing team and the University's Strategic Communications; "take over" at least one month of the Library's e-News; interview donors to develop their Your Donation at Work story; create and implement marketing strategies for future Library Discovery Hours (https://libraries.psu.edu/library-discovery-hour); and assist in the execution of donor events and stewardship activities. The successful applicant will have excellent promotional and persuasive writing and communication skills with acute attention to detail. Previous event planning experience is desirable. Areas of interest may include event planning, outreach, marketing, public relations, communications, nonprofit work, or fundraising. Important skills to excel in this position include an ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines. This position will require at least 10 hours per week up to 15 hours with a flexible work schedule. Most work will be in office, but occasional remote work will be considered. This internship pays $12.00 per hour. For 5th and 6th semester students, this opportunity does have the possibility to carry over through the next academic year with possible remote summer work. The Public Relations and Marketing Bednar Intern will be required to participate in the Library's intern community of practice (designed to help interns get to know their peers, learn more about the library, and collaborate with other interns on their day-to-day activities) and will have the opportunity to join the University Libraries Student Advisory Group. Additionally, the Public Relations and Marketing Bednar Intern is required to participate in an end of year Student Showcase presenting on their internship experiences. A project report summarizing experiences at the conclusion of the internship is required. Interested applicants must submit a current resume AND cover letter for consideration.
