Essential Job Functions |
The
Human Resources Specialist for Non-Student Temporary Employment serves as a strategic partner to support university constituents as they navigate pertinent Human Resources policies, procedures, and best practices in Non-Student Temporary recruitment, selection, and hiring processes. This role will serve as a primary contact for applicant and employee inquiries on Talent Acquisition services.
1. Manage all functions related to Non-Student Temporary Employment.
These duties include:
- Creates all Non-Student Temporary Postings;
- Manages the new and renewal Non-Student Temporary hiring;
- Works closely with departments in the Non-Student Temporary hiring process;
- Assists with difficult-to-fill positions;
- Responsible for background checks for all new Non-Student Temporary hires;
- Assists with navigation in the HR Online Document System, AppState Careers (PeopleAdmin);
- Ensures compliance with the policies related to the Non-Student Temporary Employment process;
- Complete I-9 verifications for all Non-Student Temporary hires.
- Approves all Non-Student Temporary Authorizations;
- Generates Banner IDs and Onboards all new Non-Student Temp hires; and
- Manages the upkeep of the Non-Student Temporary Employment process in AppState Careers.
2. Stores all applicable documents related to the Non-Student Temporary process in Docuware, HR's online Personnel File System.
3. Assists with background checks for all employees served by the Talent Acquisition unit.
4. Serve as operational support for the Talent Acquisition team and cross-train/serve as a backup for background checks, employee activation, customer service, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
- General knowledge of HR laws, policies & procedures, specifically in the area of employment
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills, with a focus on empowering customers and simplifying processes
- Ability to communicate with a variety of campus constituents (verbal and written)
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Ability to lead training or workshops on an as-needed basis (public speaking)
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively, with the ability to leverage technology to simplify workflows
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and Google Applications

Preferred Qualifications |
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Demonstrated outstanding customer service experience.
- Experience with enterprise-level applicant tracking or case management systems, criminal background check systems, and digital archiving systems. (App State systems are - PeopleAdmin, InfoMart, Banner, DocuWare)
