The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Branford, CT

Shift: 7:30 am - 4pm Monday - Friday

Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $27.00

Sign On Bonus: $1,000.00

What we're looking for

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in inventory/material handling or account management.

  • 1-2 years of Laboratory or chemical handling experience required

  • GMP and GLP training is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems.

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory processes.

  • Media and buffer preparation experience.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong customer service orientation with a professional, can-do attitude.

  • High regard for safety, quality, and strict adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to lead and think proactively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal departments.

  • Chemical segregation skills, including classification upon receipt.

How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor's Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In this role you will:

  • Inventory Management:
    Oversee the management of consumables and chemicals, including accurate documentation of inventory movements such as additions, disbursements, adjustments, losses, and removals. Ensure precise inventory control and process requests for inventory movement on and off-site. Support customer metric reporting.

  • Reporting & Analysis:
    Prepare and analyze inventory reports based on stock usage data. Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Conduct regular cycle counts, annual physical inventories, and generate related reports.

  • Operational Support:
    Maintain inventory operations in compliance with established policies and procedures, reporting any necessary changes. Handle package deliveries, pickups, and glassware put-away.

  • Customer Service:
    Provide daily customer service support, maintaining clear communication regarding inventory management. Deliver a high level of service in areas such as order entry, reporting, metric tracking.

  • Purchasing & Procurement:
    Perform purchasing functions including backorder reporting, expediting, managing direct factory shipments, third-party support, quote management, document control, and resolving invoice or pricing discrepancies.

  • Shipping & Logistics:
    Coordinate shipping activities, including preparing hazardous materials for shipment, completing documentation, packaging, and entering shipping data into customer systems.

  • System Utilization:
    Use Avantor and customer systems such as SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, and other customer-specific platforms.

  • Specialized Tasks:
    Prepare media and buffers. Perform chemical segregation and classification upon receipt.
