Recruiter (Transportation Industry) - Glendale, AZ

Job Summary:

The Recruiter is responsible for closely managing a roster of up to and/or at least 25-50 active drivers from a single or multiple branches in a similar region. Recruiters are responsible for outbound recruiting efforts, hiring and placement of unassigned drivers on job openings to meet the goal of attracting and retaining the best talent. Individuals in this role will help with onboarding orientations for all drivers being hired to their branch locations. This position is responsible for the high-quality filling of various positions of both CDL and Non CDL drivers and held accountable to meeting specific KPIs. This role is critical towards the retention and fit of drivers with clients as well as ensuring that drivers are actively supported by their respective branch locations. In addition to maintaining a healthy pipeline of new hires this role will be responsible for the retention and successful placement of our hires.

Responsibilities:



  • Outbound recruiting via resume search sites and more, about 40% of time spent here.

    • Actively seek out and identify potential candidates per SOP and route them to Online Application submission through Tenstreet.


  • Use sources such as Indeed, Tenstreet archived applicants, Termed drivers in CRM, and/ but not limited to social media sites such as LinkedIn.
  • Partner with Client Services and START team on potential candidates they have sourced that have for branch needs.
  • Send personized recruitment emails and messages.
  • Attend and host job fairs or other industry events once or twice a quarter.
  • Interviews, about 25% of time spent here.

    • Schedule interviews for qualified applicants upon determined need.
    • Conduct interviews for scheduled and unscheduled applicants.
    • In person intros to the Ops team during the interview process.


  • Driver Files, 15% of time spent here.

    • Continue to move most files forward in the hiring process with support of Utilization Managers.

      • VOE collection
      • Drug Screens
      • All necessary screening and hiring guidelines.
      • Second Eyes to compliance and safety standards.
      • Will assist locally with file processing of rush hires, quick rehires, and file corrections.


    • Driver Touch Calls and Dispatch Support, 10% of time spent here.

      • Call drivers that have not been placed on dispatch to assist with skill marketing to clients.

        • Verify contact information.
        • Question availability and work preference if jobs have been offered by dispatch and refused by the driver.
        • Assure driver that branch is taking action to find work.
        • Skill market drivers to current and upcoming clients.
        • Add to dispatch once assignment is established.
        • Hand-off officially to Ops after Fresh Eyes conducted.
        • Aid in retention efforts of existing drivers.
        • Document all conversations in Tenstreet and/or CRM depending on their stage of employment.


      • Client Outreach, 10% of time spent here.
      • Order fulfillment and satisfaction efforts.
      • Skill market drivers to current and upcoming clients.
      • Provide written feedback and CRM documentation at completion of each client call.
      • Commit to a minimum of calling "x amount to be determined pending volume of needs" of clients per sitting and newly hired driver each week to secure placement.
      • Branch Discussions

        • Attend all whiteboard meetings.
        • Provide feedback to sales and operations from driver contact on:

          • Availability
          • Job Needs
          • Recruiting Needs
          • Active Driver Utilization
          • Driver feedback on refused orders.


        • Weekly Review of Branch Utilization

          • Review metrics from Utilization Dashboard in CRM and determined KPIs.
          • Compare CRM Data with Branch Dispatch Roster
          • Determine from metrics the needed activity for the week.


        • Additionally, the Utilization Specialist will help with Ops PTO coverage.
