Overview

The Strategic Operations and IT Governance Director will serve as a critical orchestrator, ensuring the effective execution and alignment of IT initiatives with organizational strategic objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker and operationally focused leader capable of managing complex initiatives, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement. Working closely with the CIO and IT leadership team, the Director will standardize processes, implement governance frameworks, drive consistency in execution, and ensure that IT operations are effectively communicated and aligned with business needs. This position acts as the bridge between technical implementation and business outcomes, promoting innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence.


Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Alignment

  • Collaborate with IT leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Regularly validate strategic alignment and course-correct when necessary.
  • Translate business needs into actionable technology solutions.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and maintain standardized operational frameworks to ensure consistent execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to track performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build a team culture focused on operational excellence and service delivery.

Change Management

  • Lead and manage enterprise-wide change management programs, operationalizing frameworks like the ADKAR model.
  • Create and implement methodologies for the adoption, training, and communication of new technologies and processes.

Project Orchestration and Management

  • Oversee key projects and initiatives, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Standardize project management methodologies and establish consistent cadences for updates, risk assessments, and escalation protocols.
  • Effectively allocate resources and hold project leaders accountable for outcomes.

Governance Implementation

  • Develop and maintain practical governance systems that balance operational efficiency with necessary oversight.
  • Implement frameworks for continuous improvement, promoting innovation and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Communication

  • Develop and implement frameworks to relay IT operations status, impacts, and requirements to business stakeholders.
  • Create dashboards and reporting tools to translate technical progress into business impact.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and materials for executive meetings.

Leadership

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Mentor and develop team members to promote professional growth.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, business administration, or a related field.
  • MBA, MS in Information Systems, MS in Technology, or similar advanced degree desirable.
  • Advanced certification in operational excellence, project management, change management, and/or process management a plus.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in technology organizations.
  • 3+ years in leadership roles managing complex initiatives.
  • Experience in achieving operational discipline and excellence.
  • Knowledge and experience with best practice change management frameworks, particularly the ADKAR model; Prosci certification a plus.
  • Financial acumen and ROI-focused decision-making.
  • Strong influencing and relationship management skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of learning agility.
  • Familiarity with financial and technical acumen.
