Position Title: K-12 English Language Learner (ELL) and Middle School Intervention Teacher
Location: Nestucca Valley School District
Reports To: Building Administrator
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Per Licensed Salary Schedule

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Nestucca Valley School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to serve as both the K12 English Language Learner (ELL) teacher and a Middle School Intervention teacher. This dual-role position is designed to provide direct support to multilingual learners and middle school students who require academic intervention, with a focus on literacy and mathematics. The ideal candidate will have a passion for equity, differentiation, and small-group instruction within a rural, tight-knit school community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with an ESOL Endorsement or ability to obtain.
  • Experience working with English Language Learners and/or students requiring academic intervention.
  • Strong knowledge of language development, WIDA standards, and MTSS/RTI frameworks.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and use student data to inform teaching.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
  • Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Reading or Math Intervention Endorsement or equivalent training.
  • Bilingual (Spanish.
  • Experience teaching in a rural or small-school setting.
  • Familiarity with tools such as ELPA Screener, MAP Growth, EasyCBM, or similar assessments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

English Language Learner (ELL) Responsibilities:
  • Identify and assess English Learners in compliance with Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and federal guidelines.
  • Design and implement effective English Language Development (ELD) instruction aligned with state standards.
  • Provide push-in and pull-out support based on students' English language proficiency levels.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support language acquisition across the content areas.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward English language proficiency benchmarks.
  • Participate in the development of Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) and serve on the ELL Team.

Middle School Intervention Responsibilities:
  • Deliver targeted academic interventions in reading and math for middle school students (grades 6-8).
  • Use data to identify students needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support and monitor academic growth.
  • Develop individualized or small-group instructional plans to close learning gaps.
  • Collaborate with the MTSS/RTI team and classroom teachers to align supports and progress monitoring.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to increase student engagement and academic confidence.
General Teacher Responsibilities:
  • Meets the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-045).
  • Create and model a respectful learning environment and use effective classroom management techniques.
  • Plan appropriate lessons and activities to meet students' needs.
  • Write annual scope and sequence of instructional intent for weekly lesson plans/9-12 syllabus tied to C.C.S.S.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques based upon sound education theory which are appropriate to students' needs.
  • Assess student performance, interpret, and utilizes the results of student performance assessment.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law and district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with school staff and with parents/guardians concerning academic and behavioral progress of students.
  • Utilize technology as related to job responsibilities.
  • Maintain and update current Grade Book and online ParentVue.
  • Reflect upon own teaching and performance and accept and implement supervisory feedback to improve skills and services to students.
  • Take primary responsibility for pursuing and evaluating own professional growth.
  • Attend and participate in building staff meetings, IEP meetings, PLT's and district in-service meetings.
  • Annually pass the District's required online training by the District's assigned due date.
  • Follow District protocol for reporting absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

*Coaching and other extracurricular stipend positions are also available.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be according to the current negotiated contract.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board policy.
