Summary The Ground Controller/Load Team member assists the Flight engineers and students in all phases of pre-flight and aircraft loading/unloading training. The Ground Controller must have a working knowledge of C-130 aircraft maintenance operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Advise on problems maintaining, servicing, and inspecting C-130 aircraft.
- Serve as a liaison to the US Air Force maintenance personnel.
- Assist the C-130 ATS student training, including preflight training and aircraft loading/unloading training.
- Assist Flight engineers during all phases of -1 preflight training
- Operate/Drive required MHE (Material Handling Equipment) as required
- Assist aircraft loading and un-loading.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Position requires a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year of directly related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and related experience.
- Must have a working knowledge of C-130 aircraft maintenance operations.
- 5-skill level C-130 maintenance experience required.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- Must be able to work shift work and overtime as required.
Language Skills
- Basic communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents.
Mathematical Skills
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must be able to receive and maintain a flight line driver's license.
Preferred Skills
- Possession of a FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certification is desired.
- Material Handling Equipment Operation experience desired.
- Desired knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems; concepts and application of maintenance directives and data reporting; using technical data; Air Force supply procedures; and proper handling, use and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
Security Responsibilities Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment
- Shop floor environment. Reasonable noise levels.
- Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
- Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, loud noises.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds over head.
- Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and/or ladder.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the device.
- Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.
