Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for safely carrying out the work assignments received from the Lead, Assistant Distribution Center Manager, or Distribution Center Manager. Primary responsibilities include fabrication, wire rope handling, cutting, packaging, and shipment preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Checks for incoming and outgoing materials, locates reels.
  • Responsible for stripping, cutting, and handling of rope for shipment or fabrication.
  • Operates rewinding machine, spooling and coiling various sizes of rope and strand in accordance with customer's orders.
  • Inspects rope for quality and works with others to load and unload trucks and assembling reels.
  • Prepares reels and coils for shipment with tags and shipping papers.
  • Using tools like saws, lasers, and presses to cut or mold materials into desired shapes and sizes.
  • Assembly: Joining parts through methods like welding, bolting, or riveting.
  • Selecting and preparing materials, often metals, plastics, or composites, for the fabrication process., or coating, to enhance durability or appearance
  • Applying surface treatments, such as painting, polishing

+ Quarterly Incentive Payments after 90-day probationary period is complete

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED certificate.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Possess math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have the ability to learn to use and read micrometers, tape measure, feeler gauge, and basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for 10-12 hour shifts.
  • Must be able to push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions with temperatures ranging from 40-100+ degrees Fahrenheit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing experience that includes the use of measuring devices and the use of basic math and mechanical skills.

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes
  • Strand and Wire rope of various diameters and lengths, on reels or in coils, empty or unassembled reels, paper lagging strips, tags, seizing wire, blocking, thimbles.
  • Rewinding machines, stanchions, shafts, collars, bushings, rope cutters, measuring devices, fork trucks, banding equipment, welders, and various hand tools.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment. A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
