Job Summary

The Videographer II manages the design and development of all aspects of video production for the university. This role is responsible for translating organizational and client goals into strategic media deliverables that reinforce the FGCU brand for both internal and external audiences.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the design and development of multimedia materials for customers that support the university's marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Provides creative leadership in generating ideas for media projects that achieve strategic goals.
  • Produces creative advertising, event highlights, promotional and feature videos tailored for website, social media, and advertising campaigns.
  • Oversees all facets of production including pre-production meetings, concept development, script development, filming, production, directing, editing, and archiving.
  • Develops, presents, and collaborates with leadership on scope, content, and budget for media projects.
  • Determines equipment selection, transport, and set-up for various assignments.
  • Recruits and schedules talent for shoots in accordance with department and university policies and procedures.
  • Operates and maintains proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio, video recorders, and other production equipment.
  • Develops new techniques, systems, and procedures to enhance the complex strategic operating issues.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, implements new processes, and promotes best practices.
  • Provides training and development services for student and/or OPS workers in assigned area.
  • Serves as a team leader and oversees the work of lower level personnel in assigned area.

Other Duties:

  • Represents the department at meetings as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in communication, journalism, photography, media production or a related field and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional full-time experience in video production, concept development, filming and editing.
  • Experience with non-linear editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years professional full-time experience in video production, concept development, filming and editing.
  • 5 years experience with non-linear editing software, such as Adobe Premiere.
  • Experience in special effects, animation and motion graphics.
  • Experience producing video for web and social media.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge and ability to recognize and implement video, broadcast production techniques and standards, branding and marketing principles.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, publishing software, and professional video editing software Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
  • Knowledge of lighting and sound recording techniques, special effects, 3D, and compositing.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skilled in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use effective visualization and shooting concepts.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use professional video and still cameras and other related equipment.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
