Position Overview

The ExxonMobil Energy Venture Camp, held at Lee College, is seeking passionate instructors to teach engaging, hands-on activities that introduce middle school students to career and college opportunities in the energy industry. Instructors will enhance students' understanding of the energy sector through interactive lessons, experiments, and guest speaker sessions.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instruct and guide students based on the camp curriculum focused on the energy industry, including hands-on experiments and team projects.
  • Deliver engaging lessons, lab demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and observations to enhance learning about STEM pathways in the energy industry.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and exploration.
  • Supervise campers to ensure their safety and engagement during all activities. Including proper PPE use in all camp events.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of student participation and attendance.
  • Chaperone and lead organized field trips to Houston and surrounding communities for behind-the-scenes tours and industry expert talks, ensuring timely follow-through and student engagement during all activities.
  • Maintain instructional supplies and equipment for hands-on activities and monitor supply orders as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree
  • Must document knowledge of energy-related subjects or STEM education
  • Experience in teaching or facilitating educational programs for middle school students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Ability to climb stairs, stand, walk, bend and kneel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified teaching experience in educational roles, particularly in STEM or energy sectors.
  • Experience working with middle school-age students.
