Job Summary

Plans, organizes, and directs the development, implementation, optimization, and management of systems and services within the following departments: Revenue Cycle Education, Vendor Management, Payer Enrollment, and Ancillary Support Services (including Revenue Cycle (Epic) Builder Program, sFTP file management, Payer Portal Access Team & Epic Payer Contract Build Team). Accountable for the discovery, acquisition, management, retainment, and succession of talent.

Ensures alignment of Revenue Cycle Services delivery to the stated strategy, direction, and priorities given by the Senior Director, Revenue Cycle Shared Services to meet current and future needs/outcomes, and to support the business goals and objectives of the health system.

Responsible for the development of goals, development and management of the budget, provision of quality services (including supplier performance), and collaboration with other leaders and team members to continually improve services and support the management team.

Plays a key role in planning and scoping projects, including supplier implementations and process improvement work aligning to aforementioned teams. Communicates strategies, tactics, progress, and key measures to customers and organizational leadership. Works in collaboration with other Directors and executives to develop policies and procedures that support the department and provision of quality services throughout the organization. Provides guidance and support to Revenue Cycle leaders to ensure optimal supplier performance and financial efficiency gain according to contract service level deliverables. Supports implementation of adult learning principles and educational best practices, in collaboration with Education Center of Excellence for all revenue cycle / clerical new hires leveraging the electronic health record (EHR).
Essential Functions
  • Creates and executes strategic plans for revenue cycle education and development. Ensures consistent staff onboarding, training, and accountabilities for all revenue cycle staff across all revenue cycle departments. Supervises the development and delivery of Revenue Cycle education and training programs across the enterprise. Develops a high-performance team as measured through the achievement of benchmark process outcomes, audit and compliance results, financial goals, and employee satisfaction. Builds leadership and management talent within reporting structure to ensure transparency on goals and performance improvement throughout the Revenue Cycle enterprise.
  • Directs the enhancement of existing technology to improve workflow efficiency and promote standardized processes and streamline workflows. Ensures systems utilized provide bi-directional communication between payers, strong bill editing functionality, and flexible workflow management to complement billing processes to improve collection rates and reduce accounts receivables. Participates in and/or leads various DS-related steering committees for information technology changes which affect the Revenue Cycle and department-specific workstreams.
  • Manages Vendor Performance through monthly reporting; both internally (with stakeholders) and externally (with vendors). Identifies areas of improvement in reporting. Directs operational stakeholders to establish baseline performance. Tracks performance to industry benchmarks. Maintains Vendor Management Operational List. At minimum, executes on escalated concerns and challenges as relates to vendor performance and metrics. Directs quarterly performance reviews with select third-party vendor partners. Manages vendors to establish Process Improvement Plan for underperformance. Drives performance and vendor expense to meet budget and revenue cycle outcomes.
  • Collaborates Enterprise-wide on our Vendor Management strategies and strategically works with enterprise partners to create a unified process through the system. Ensures understanding of all revenue cycle departments including scheduling, registration, authorizations, referrals, coding, billing, clinical documentation, revenue management, HIM, and shared services.
  • Oversees the strategic direction and overall performance of the payer enrollment function within the healthcare revenue cycle, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Sets long-term objectives, evaluates key performance indicators, and drives initiatives to optimize enrollment efficiency and payer relationships. Provides leadership and guidance to the enrollment manager and team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Collaborates with executive leadership, compliance, and revenue cycle stakeholders to anticipate industry changes, mitigate risks, and support sustainable growth through effective payer engagement and credentialing strategies.
  • Manages the performance and productivity of direct reports as it relates to activities and pre-defined goals/targets, while providing continual feedback and guidance. Provides timely opportunities for a training program for new and existing employees in Reporting & Analytics as needed (e.g. new technology, policies, procedures, initiatives, etc.).
  • Develops capital and operational budgets for the department, services, and programs. Routinely monitors, manages, and controls budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action, and develops plans for productivity improvements.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels and preventing backlogs by endorsing production standards and goals to ensure timely processing. Assumes ultimate accountability for the recruitment, interviewing, hiring performance monitoring, retention, initiating/follow-through with disciplinary action, and termination of all staff, in consultation with Human Resources. Mentors, coaches, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource.
  • Strategizes with all-level leaders (mid-management through executive) on approach to Education and Vendor Management. Establishes standard work on departmental processes and monitors adherence of the work within these departments.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in a related field Required
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a leadership role with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage budgets. Required
