Overview
The HR Compliance team ensures compliance with regulations through fair and equitable employment practices. The team oversees compliance in the areas of Equal Employment Opportunity, Reasonable Accommodations, Unacceptable Workplace Conduct, Veterans and Employees with Disabilities, Data Privacy and Anti-Fraternization. Job Description: The Compliance Lead will report to the HR Ethics and Compliance Manager and will work directly with employees and HR Centers of Excellence to ensure that applicants and employees are given equal opportunities in employment and contracting activities regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. The Compliance Lead will oversee, administer and be a technical resource for any and all accommodations issues that arise under federal and state law. Additionally, this position will facilitate and administer Electric Boat's Voluntary Dispute Resolution Process (DRP). The successful candidate will implement, communicate, and maintain programs, practices and procedures that are designed to identify risk, ensure adherence with all applicable related legal/regulatory and compliance requirements, as well as mitigate loss and protect the company.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent fact-findings on matters associated with challenges to disciplinary decisions, accommodations issues or requests, and equal employment opportunity complaints
- Develop, implement, interpret, and monitor Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action programs to conform with federal and state laws regarding employees and applicants.
- Maintain knowledge of developments, trends, and best practices in EEO administration, including federal and state legal and regulatory changes and changes to the EEO practices; based on this knowledge, recommends revisions and updates to the Electric Boat's EEO and affirmative action policies.
- Investigate internal complaints, document decisions and generate meaningful reports. Use internal recordkeeping system (Navex) to track cases
- Monitor the company's procedures on investigating and responding to EEO charges and recommend changes to policy and procedures as experience dictates
- Implement company-wide training programs on EEO and affirmative action requirements including instruction on all forms of prohibited discrimination and harassment
- Train HR team members on the development of processes and systems to drive compliance with EEO, OFCCP and Data Privacy requirements
- Develop and implement reporting and audit procedures to assess the effectiveness of the HR organization's compliance with relevant federal, state, and local discrimination laws
- Conduct internal audits of practices and policies on a regular basis to identify any issues related to HR compliance, determine root cause, and suggest corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement in all applicable HR related legal/regulatory and compliance programs
- Administer Electric Boat's Voluntary Dispute Resolution Process (DRP)
- Facilitate Electric Boat's Accommodations Review Committees (ARC) which ensures that the Company's accommodation process is compliant with state and federal law.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
- Confidentially collects information to support the handling and processing of ethics complaints and allegations in concert/collaboration with EB's Ethic's Officer.
Location: Groton with some travel to QP and Westerly Education Center as needed
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of experience in HR related or legal/regulatory or compliance programs
- Knowledge of multiple HR disciplines and best practices in employee relations, diversity, performance management, employment and compliance laws and OFCCP
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree in HR, business, human resources management, Labor Relations, or JD.
- Experience conducting and documenting independent investigations related to discrimination and/or harassment complaints.
- Experience reviewing and providing guidance on reasonable accommodation requests
- Experience working within an HR organization and providing guidance on best practices within employee relations or labor and employment policies
