Description

This position will be based in Seattle, WA with travel to Alaska as needed. Travel can be up to 40% of the time depending on business needs.

Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.

Summary:Assists primary processing plants with development and implementation of programs and procedures required for food safety and quality compliance. Provides support to ensure compliance and verify that technically sound food safety and quality programs are in place

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance for onsite FSQA staff at primary operations processing facilities, and in-season support at processing locations as needed
  • Oversees the Food Safety/Quality Management systems at the primary processing sites
  • Ensures that the standards set out by corporate FSQA are appropriately understood and implemented against expectations.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance by participating in development, reassessment, and revisions of regulatory programs, i.e. HACCP and Food Defense (Intentional adulteration) plans
  • Ensures food Safety programs/systems are verified through internal audits, recertification audits, and corrective actions
  • Provide subject matter expertise on fresh, frozen salmon (and all LACF products).
  • Support audit preparation, corrective action response as necessary for regulatory, customer, and 3rd party audits of primary processing facilities. Be available onsite during audits as appropriate
  • Provides practical interpretation and guidance to processing operation personnel on current and proposed regulation.
  • Oversees TSC participation with the SPA/FDA/Industry Salmon Control plan.
  • Maintain FDA LACF process filings for canning operations
  • Manages the development of team members. Removes roadblocks, pushes communications, encourages, and assesses performance. Embraces problem-solving as a learning experience.
  • Travel to Alaska as needed. Can up to 40% of the time depending on business needs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a an exempt position with an annualized salaryrange of $100,000 to $130,000.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the FSQA field
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an FSQA environment
  • Four year degree in food related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience in a food production/FSQA environment.
  • Seafood HACCP and/or HACCP certification
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (M.A.) in food safety, science, or related field

Work Environment

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

Physical/Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
