Ameresco is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Controls Installation Technician to join our Smart Building Solutions team in Cincinnati, OH. As a Controls Installation Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, maintenance, and optimization of DDC control systems in commercial buildings. Your expertise in controls installation and advanced troubleshooting will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and performance of building automation systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission DDC control systems in commercial buildings, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and peripheral devices.

  • Develop and implement complex control strategies to optimize system performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort.

  • Conduct thorough system inspections and preventive maintenance activities to identify potential issues and ensure reliable operation.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose advanced system malfunctions or failures using specialized diagnostic tools, software, and protocols.

  • Collaborate with the Controls Team to design and implement system upgrades, retrofits, and expansions.

  • Perform in-depth analysis of system data and trends to identify opportunities for optimization and energy savings.

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of control system configurations, commissioning documentation, and network configurations.

  • Train and mentor other Controls Technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in DDC controls.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry advancements, technologies, and best practices related to DDC controls and building automation systems.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members during complex troubleshooting scenarios or system integrations.

  • Maintain compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations throughout all installation and maintenance activities.

  • Perform all other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience working with DDC control systems in a commercial setting.

  • Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, controls systems, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to bend and install EMT conduit.

  • Strong knowledge of building automation protocols and communication networks, such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.

  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex control system issues using diagnostic tools, software, and protocols. In-depth understanding of HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, VAV systems, etc.

  • Ability to read and interpret advanced control drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Strong grasp of electrical systems and low-voltage wiring.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
