Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Sleep Technologist, Per Diem

  • Location: 1259 Rickert Dr., Naperville, IL

  • Per Diem, As Needed

  • Hours: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.

  • Verifies the medical order and testing protocol to be used. Completes and verifies documentation of patient information, insurance information and HIPAA forms.

  • Orients the patient to the testing environment, procedure and answers general questions regarding the process

  • Prepares the patient for the testing procedure in accordance with proper electrode application to pre-determined positions in accordance with the International 10-20 System and the American Academy of Sleep Technologists recommendations

  • Performs appropriate physiologic and computer calibrations to ensure proper signals and employs the appropriate troubleshooting techniques to improve signal quality

  • Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting and titration of positive and Bilevel airway pressure per American Academy of Sleep Medicine guidelines

  • Follows procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc. to ensure collection of appropriate data.

  • Follows "lights-out" procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.)

  • Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.

  • Assists with appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic interventions such as continuous and Bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.).

  • Follows "lights on" procedures to verify integrity of collected data and completes the data collection process (e.g., repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires, etc.).

  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. Participates in equipment care and maintenance. Demonstrates ability to follow directions. Participates and attends department meetings.

What you will need:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Completion of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine A-Step On-Line Clinical Modules Technologist Education Program within 90 days of hire

  • Current CPR certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross

  • Demonstrates computer proficiency and familiarity of Microsoft Office Applications

  • Minimum six months of direct patient care experience orcompletion of a medical assistant or nursing assistant program within the past six months

  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrates appropriate social skills and the ability to follow direction
