Job Summary:

In addition to providing HR business partnership to several members of Harvard senior management, the Human Resources Manager also has primary accountability for managing day-to-day employee relations issues. Works in partnership with General Counsel and the legal team to address grievance and employee relations issues. Provides effective HR leadership across the administration of policy and procedure, recruitment and onboarding, off-boarding, employee relations, labor relations, compliance to all company and HR initiatives, performance management, data entry and reporting and employee development. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role is based in MN.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Operates as a business partner to regional leadership and management on HR requirements in the delivery of regional clients, goals, and initiatives.
  • Is a managerial member of the Human Resources team accountable for organizational goals and initiatives; contributes to developing departmental goals, objectives and systems within the department.
  • Provides direction to regional management and employee base on all Human Resources initiatives.
  • Serves as role model to HR team with the ability to develop and coach the team.
  • Guides employees, supervisors and management through investigative processes of employee relations and makes recommendations when necessary.
  • Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels. Meets with Hiring Managers to develop specific recruitment plans.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Oversees the maintenance of compliance with all employee files through eFile
  • Recommends innovative approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department.
  • Manages the maintenance of employee records and data integrity and compiles reports for Management as requested.
  • Facilitates communication among employees and management. Guide Management and employee base on problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and litigation avoidance.
  • Develop and coach HR team.
  • Develop training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the division.
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for labor relations in a primarily unionized workforce; ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, support contract negotiations, address and resolve union grievances, and maintain positive union-management relations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or additional experience in lieu of degree
  • A minimum of 10 years HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions and with understanding of implications on the business
  • Coaching and mentoring skills required
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to set expectations and monitor delegated activities
  • Self-starter with excellent dependability and integrity
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws
  • Bilingual language skills; English and Spanish spoken/written required
  • Experience working with Unions


Compensation

Harvard is offering a competitive salary structure including benefit package with medical, dental, life, and long-term disability (LTD) insurance along with 401K Savings Plan.
