Job Description The successful candidate will join the OSUCCC-Genomics Shared Resources Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) team that has expertise in a range of functions including NGS library construction (short read Illumina based, 10X single cell and spatial), data organization as well as advising NGS experiments design for GSR users. The individual will study the established GSR protocols and the instrument operation protocols/best practice, execute the workflows under the supervision of senior GSR team members when applicable. Independently, the candidate will optimize, streamline and troubleshoot various NGS-based library preparation and protocols. This candidate will help with data dissemination and basic bioinformatic analysis for users after sequencing data generation, perform critical analyses of NGSrelated publications and new technology releases (e.g., new platforms, disruptive sequencing techniques) to identify, evaluate, and, where applicable, implement novel methods or technologies in GSR. The candidate will accurately and thoroughly document project and sample information, protocols, experimental details and ensure proper storage of generated libraries. The candidate will be expected to coordinate tasks across multiple projects and work around tight deadlines as required. The candidate will assist with development, writing and preparation of grant proposals to obtain cutting-edge instruments for GSR; train new GSR staff members when applicable; facilitate procurement of new NGS-related equipment; provide technical assistance and supervision of NGS equipment; will negotiate and oversee equipment service contracts and repairs; and communicate and work with other GSR non-NGS team-members in a professional manner. Minimum Education Required MS in Genetics, Molecular Biology or other related field with at least 5 years (MS) of relevant laboratory experience required. A Doctoral degree in genomics or molecular biology with 1-3 years experience is desirable. Hands-on experience working with the preparation and sequencing of NGS libraries required. Experience with basic bioinformatics tools and languages for NGS data analysis required; knowledge about common NGS data analysis pipelines preferred. Demonstrated experience with single-cell RNA sequencing library (10X) or long read library (e.g. ONT/PACBIO) construction desired. Experience with RNA/DNA isolation, quantification, RT-PCR, and quality control (e.g. Bioanalyzer and/or Tapestation) required. Experience with graphing programs, omics data tools such as Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, and genomics resources such as UCSC Genome Browser desired. Additional Education Desired The candidate should be highly motivated, with strong organizational skills, project management skills, ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral); ; Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre- pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
