Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a technically driven, strategic leader to serve as the Deputy Technical Senior Manager within the Advanced Concept Engineering (ACE) Group. This senior role will support the Technical Director in shaping and executing ACE's technical strategy, managing internal R&D investments, advancing innovation, and ensuring alignment with customer mission needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading multidisciplinary teams, capability development, and full lifecycle engineering. The Deputy Technical Senior Manager will act as a Subject Matter Expert-analyzes actual and predictable interacting operational activities of a military, governmental, or business system to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making or resource allocation

Responsibilities:

Technical Strategy & Capability Development




  • Collaborate with ACE leadership to define and implement technical strategy aligned with enterprise goals.



  • Identify capability gaps and guide efforts to address emerging customer and market needs.



  • Provide technical direction on digital engineering, modeling/simulation, and data tools.




Innovation & R&D Oversight




  • Lead planning and execution of group-level IR&D initiatives and corporate innovation efforts.



  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, experimentation, and technical excellence.



  • Evaluate technology trends to guide investment and risk decisions.




External Partnerships & Engagement




  • Drive strategic partnerships with universities, national labs, and technical consortia.



  • Support Torch's participation in technology councils, forums, and research coalitions.



  • Promote ACE's presence in technical conferences and symposia.




Internal Collaboration & Technical Integration




  • Act as a liaison between ACE and other internal teams to ensure cohesive technical execution.



  • Mentor engineering staff and foster professional development across the ACE technical community.



  • Support cross-functional coordination and knowledge sharing across program teams.



Job Requirements


  • PhD in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or specific field of expertise.15+ years of experience in technology development, including design, testing, integration, and transition.including 10 years of leadership roles.



  • OR,Masters' degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or specific field of expertise. 20+ years of experience in technology development, including design, testing, integration, and transition.including 10 years of leadership roles.



  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Defense or National Laboratories.



  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and drive technical strategy.



  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.



  • A current DoD Top Secretsecurity clearance is required.
