Test Engineer II - Lunar Permenance

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities:

* Plan, develop and execute test procedures for flight hardware

* Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers

* Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the integrated vehicle and subsystems, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the pertinent requirements

* Troubleshoot issues and anomalies that arise during testing

* Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks

* Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations

* Find opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings

* Proactively prepare status updates and communicates both within the organization and with direct customers

* Have frequent inter-organizational and customer interactions on difficult technical issues

* Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions

* Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews.

* Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns

* Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing

* Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations

Qualifications:

* Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!

* BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline

* Typically 2+ years of applicable experience

* Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills

* Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

* Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

* Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired

* Experience with space vehicle component, subsystem, or integrated vehicle testing including environmental tests like shock, vibration, modal, acoustics, thermal vacuum, thermal balance

* Cryogenic systems experience

* Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews

* Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems

* Understands/experience with hazardous operations

* Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)
