The Opportunity:
This position is responsible to monitor, control, and analyze the performance of the generating equipment associated with the Enel Green Power North America, Inc (EGPNA) fleet of Bulk Energy Storage System projects. This position is the technical leader of the EGPNA BESS fleet and serves as the primary liaison between the local operating teams, vendors, contractors and Enel business groups.
What You'll Do at Enel North America:
* Provide direction & coordination of engineers, analysts, and technicians to ensure the fulfillment of departmental goals, including training & development requirements, and performance management.
* Responsible for the creation of maintenance strategies for all projects with an emphasis on asset reliability and condition-based monitoring.
* Manage plant condition monitoring programs, provide training to plant personnel on data collection techniques, and notify maintenance staff of identified issues.
* Responsible for the data analysis of BESS SCADA and Condition Based Monitoring Systems.
* Serve as the O&M liaison for BESS projects under development, to ensure projects meet technical and operation requirements, and to identify and correct potential criticalities.
* Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for pertinent failures associated with BESS power generating equipment.
* Develop improvement plans to address systemic problems and improve overall performance of the operating equipment (improvements and/or modifications).
* Perform data analysis of BESS SCADA and Condition Based Monitoring Systems.
* Create technical documentation, specifications, operating procedures and troubleshooting support for the BESS project portfolio based on technical knowledge and interaction with local and international colleagues.
* Serve as technical lead for plant expansions, retrofits, and other major projects that encompass a wide range of technical and operational considerations.
* Perform detailed analysis of operating data and provide recommended actions to address specific or systems issues (low reliability, equipment underperformance, etc).
* Propose, support, and manage plant equipment upgrade projects based upon data analysis and plant performance indicators.
* Identify and perform analysis of Warranty Claims and provide support to field personnel regarding the same.
* Coordinate with the BESS Regional/Site Managers for the development of operational strategies to improve the performance of the BESS power plants.
* Review and approve all engineering drawings and specifications provided to the BESS O&M group by internal groups, vendors, and contractors.
Who You Are:
* Superior knowledge of three phase power systems, inverters, instrumentation and digital control systems.
* Superior knowledge of time and frequency domain analysis, power quality studies, airborne and mechanical ultrasound, thermography, dissolved gas analysis, and other condition monitoring technologies is required.
* Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to plan, organize and lead/influence others with a results-oriented approach.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate highly technical material to others.
* 20% travel required.
* Physical Activities: Talking, hearing, near acuity, handling and fingering. This is a sedentary position, involving significant sitting, but will include periods of extensive standing and walking. May exert up to 40 lbs occasionally, but usually negligible force is necessary. In order to inspect equipment, this position requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs, and may require accessing confined spaces.
* Mental Functions: Comparing, copying, calculating, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* A clean driving record means in the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents.
* In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident.
What You've Accomplished:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with demonstrated work experience providing high level engineering support in the Battery Storage industry.
* A master's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on battery
technologies is preferred.
* A minimum of Five (5) years' related technical experience in the utility scale (10+MWh) BESS industry
* Certification in reliability-based maintenance and/or asset management (CMRP, CRL, CAMA, etc.) strongly preferred.
* A CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) certification shall be required within 1 year of hire.
