Business Unit Overview

This position is part of Novanta's ATI Industrial Automation business unit. ATI is the world's leading developer of robotic end of arm technologies. Position Details

Summary

The Product Manager is the product champion and acts as a General Manager for the Heavy-Duty Tool Changer product line that serves Automotive and General Industries. The goal is to maximize the reach of the product line into Automotive OEMs, Robotic System Integrators, and Tier Suppliers worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities

Market Analysis, Product Roadmap and Commercialization

  • Use various Voice of Customer (VoC) methods to analyze market, competition and customer needs to define product requirements for engineering teams.
  • Leverage subject matter experts for strategic outcomes in Product Management.
  • Create and maintain a product roadmap in collaboration with sales and engineering teams
  • Oversee new product developments and monitor R&D and manufacturing projects.
  • Define and prioritize projects to align with product category strategies
  • Drive portfolio revenue expansion into new segments/applications.
  • Manage execution of strategic initiatives, including pricing strategies, to achieve revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Develop and review KPIs to measure success and identify improvement areas.
  • Develop and execute product launch plans alongside the business development, marketing, and sales teams.

Sales and Marketing Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Sales Management to develop and execute regional and application-specific sales strategies.
  • Work with Marketing Management on promotional strategy development

Manufacturing and Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Develop forecasts for product sales (1-5 years) and assist with lead-time and inventory control.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Management to optimize gross margins over the long term.
  • Establish a product life cycle process to manage product portfolios sustainably using market analysis techniques.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Possess 5+ years of experience in product management and a demonstrated success in managing a portfolio to deliver growth
  • Experience at Robotic OEMs, Automotive OEMs, System Integrators or Tier suppliers highly preferred
  • Be data-driven and able to analyze metrics to make informed decisions about the product portfolio
  • Be able to lead through influence and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Possess broad business acumen and a deep understanding of the organization's objectives
  • B.S. degree or higher. MBA preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Must have a valid passport and the ability to travel can be up to 30%.
