About this opportunity

With significant store expansion on the horizon for Design Within Reach and Herman Miller, we are building a team that will work closely with product merchants, inventory planning, visual and allocation to deliver the optimal in-store experience while our expanding fleet.

As a Store Planner, you will play a crucial role in both our seasonal refresh and store expansion strategies. You will possess a unique ability to combine deep analytical insights on store performance and attribution that will drive assortment strategies. You will analyze store performance and tiers to define and optimize the assortment framework within each tier.

As a candidate, you will have experience with Excel and data analytics and be incredibly organized and detail oriented. You will use data and insights to guide the Store Merchandising Merchant and cross-functional teams on assortment opportunities for our stores.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and group stores into tiers based on their size, footprints, volume and location

  • Using data and field feedback, developing store tier attribution for all existing and new stores seasonally

  • Capture themes across geographies, climates and volume groups, while using learnings to influence future assortment strategies

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate store tiers and attributes to guide product strategies

  • Maintain systemic data through multiple tool sets to reflect store sales trends

  • Collaborate and share best practices when working on projects that support the broader team deliverables

  • Ensure timely and effective communication of key timelines, deliverables, and expectations to cross-functional team members

  • Partner with Manager to balance workload and priorities; solicit decision guidance when needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in merchandising, store planning, or distribution/allocation

  • Experience in the home industry/furniture preferred

  • Demonstrated cross-functional partnership and influencing skills

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and the ability to build reporting tools

  • Strength in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and curiosity
